Babylon 5 - Fan Fiction

Many Babylon 5 fans have lamented the demise of the thought-provoking series and the dearth of new episodes or a feature film. Frankly, the direct-to-DVD movies, the television movies, Rangers stories and the Crusade series just didn't click with most fans. Series creator and writer J. Michael Straczynski stated recently he will not do anymore B-5 projects if and until Warner Bros. (who owns the show) coughs up some real money for a top-line feature film [JMS 7.08 remarks linked here]. Below is a spec script I wrote back in '99 for a B-5 feature film. It centers on Lyta's journey of self-discovery and Londo's quest for redemption. The story is essentially one long love-letter to the show. Enjoy. [c'mon JMS, read it]

STORY REFRESHER:
At the end of the series, Lyta was going off on a journey with G'Kar and she had struck a secret deal with Girabaldi. Telepaths were seeking a homeworld of their own and freedom from persecution and human telepaths protection from the fascistic Earth telepath agency Psi-Corps. DeLenn had returned to Minbar to assume leadership duties there. Sheridan had become president of the Alliance. Dr. Franklin was on Earth and was exposed to the virus released by the Drakh which can kill all life on Earth. Girabaldi is now a billionaire and based on Mars, having inherited Edgars Industries (defense contractors) when he married the late Edgars' widow. The Drakh now sew unrest in the galaxy in the stead of the Shadows - who were driven out. The Vorlons have also headed "beyond the rim" along with the Shadows. Lennier, who loves Delenn, now wears black as a sign of disgrace and had recently betrayed Sheridan. Bester and the Psi-Corps are wild-cards - no one knows if they conspire with the Drakh or not. G'Kar is now the supreme religious leader of all Narn, his autobiography having struck a deep chord among his people - who now view him as a messiah. On the space station Babylon 5 Lochley is in charge and Number 1 (Tessa) heads up the intelligence unit for the Alliance. Vir is still stationed on B-5 and Centauri Emperor Londo Molari leads the Centauri Republic from Centauri Prime - yet he is controlled by a Drakh keeper - a hideous creature that most cannot see and which has fused with his nervous system making him subject to Drakh control. The Narn homeworld lies in ruins from the vicious Centauri attack the Shadows made happen, and Centauri Prime is partially destroyed as well through Drakh subterfuge.

BABYLON 5: THE FIGHT FOR FREEDOM

[The story picks up essentially where the series left off at its conclusion. Crusade and the DVD and television movies are ignored.]

INTRODUCTION
(Introductory MUSIC begins)

Characters appear on-screen, each a talking head against a neutral
oval background surrounded by images culled from the television series which match with what is being described.

JOHN SHERIDAN appears LEFT

SHERIDAN
Babylon Five is the fifth of the Babylon
Stations, built by Earth to promote peace and
understanding among the galactic races. A
place of commerce, diplomacy, and cultural
interaction, it serves as humankind's last,
best hope for peace. The Babylon stations were
built in the aftermath of the Earth-Minbari
War, so that never again would Earth go to war
and suffer destruction for failure to understand
its galactic neighbors. A simple misunderstanding
and fear nearly led to Earth's annihilation in
that war. The first four Babylon stations were
destroyed or lost, reminding us all that it is
a dangerous universe out there.

DISSOLVE to DELENN, RIGHT

DELENN
The Minbari surrendered during their final
assault on Earth - in a battle Minbari were sure
to win due to our superior technology. But we
Minbari discovered that humans and Minbari
share DNA - that somehow our two peoples are
connected, a secret still known only to a very
few. It was the Vorlons who made us see that we
would need to work with the humans to fight a
great evil which had returned to the galaxy and
threatened us all - the Shadows.

DISSOLVE to LONDO, LEFT

LONDO
Earth had made contact with one other alien
race prior to their disastrous initial
encounter with the Minbari. Earth had dev-
eloped trade and diplomatic relations with
the Centauri, we being a prideful people known
for our rituals of status and love of material

things. The Centauri obsession with power led
to the near-total destruction of the Narn home-
world during the Shadow War. Centauri and the
Narn had fought for centuries and the long-
simmering hatred between the two peoples had
taken on a life of its own and opened the way
for the Shadows to play on Centauri prejudices
and make us do terrible things. The Drakh, the
key ally of the Shadows, now wage their own
silent war of aggression since the Shadows and
Vorlons have left the galaxy. We Centauri paid
a heavy price for our greed and arrogance.

DISSOLVE to G'KAR,RIGHT

G'KAR
The Shadow War engulfed all the known galactic
races, all used as pawns by either the forces
of light, the Vorlons, who sought to create
cooperation and peace among different cultures,
and the forces of darkness, the Shadows, who
sought to compel conflict and war so that the
strong might utterly destroy the weak. It was
the humans - especially Sheridan - who turned
the tide and saved us all. Now the Drakh sow
the seeds of chaos, and what to do about the
telepaths has become the question of the moment.

DISSOLVE to LYTA, LEFT
LYTA
Telepaths were created by the Vorlons and the
Shadows, for use as weapons in the final Shadow
War. Many normals, or "mundanes" as telepaths
sometimes call non-telepaths, fear telepaths
and persecute them. Although the Shadows and
Vorlons have left our galaxy, some of their
weapons - including telepaths - remain. A few
telepaths were given special powers by the
Vorlons. To be free from persecution, to be
able to live among our own without fear of
being used or harmed, many telepaths now seek
a homeworld of our own.

DISSOLVE to SHERIDAN, RIGHT

SHERIDAN
The year is 2266 and the Drakh, the Shadows'
key ally, have launched a terror campaign
against all those who fought their masters,
the Shadows. The Drakh manipulate governments
behind-the-scenes, compromising leaders, even

whole worlds, ruling through intimidation and
fear. The Drakh destroyed several worlds with
a Shadow planet-killer, but that terrible
weapon was destroyed at Earth. In an act of
revenge, the Drakh poisoned the Earth's atmos-
phere with a bio-engineered smart virus, which
will destroy all life on Earth within a five
year time-span if a cure is not found. We have
less than a year. The Drakh are ready to strike
again - seeking to land a death-blow against
the Alliance. The Alliance is, in turn, has
launched a major expeditionary force to find
the Drakh base so we can fight back.

INT. DRAKH TORTURE CHAMBER
In a dank, fairly large cell/torture chamber LYTA ALEXANDER stands suspended, her body an X as her bound wrists and ankles hold her upright. Her restraints are metallic, electronic, thick and for-midable. Unconscious, her face haggard and dirty from sweat and grime, she seems utterly oblivious to the activity around her. She appears physically weak, her body battered, bloody, and bruised.

CAMERA PULLS BACK to reveal several DRAKH conversing, a couple of which are putting away implements of torture (electroshock devices)
into a large moveable console. Two important Drakh enter the chamber as another Drakh leads about fifteen collared human TELEPATH SLAVES from the chamber. All depart, save for the two important Drakh.

DRAKH TORTURE LEADER
If she does not break after the
next round, kill her.
DRAKH TORTURER
She is near death already. Her gifts
are great. Greater even than the
other two like her we found, and had
to destroy.

TORTURE CHAMBER

DRAKH TORTURE LEADER
The Vorlons achieved something we've
not yet seen before, with these human
telepaths. But, if they cannot be
turned to our will, they are of no use
to us. It is not clear why the Vorlons
made such as her, only to have us capture
them and dissect them for study. The mod-
ifications to their bodies is, however,
superb work.

CLOSE ON LYTA as a slight twitch near LYTA'S eye lets us know she's not near death, and hearing it all.

DRAKH TORTURE LEADER (CONTINUED)
The cloning center produced a batch
of human telepaths with neural defects.
You are needed presently, they are to
be euthanized.

DRAKH TORTURER
How many this time?

DRAKH TORTURE LEADER
Over twenty-thousand.

ON LYTA / X-CLOSE-UP as her jaw discretely clenches, and a subtle flash of anger passes over her weary face.

DRAKH TORTURE LEADER (CONTINUED)
We will decommission the remaining cloning
centers. We have enough telepath drones now
for the main assault. When our masters' final instructions come, we will use the remaining
human telepaths against the Alliance, and when
all of their worlds are subdued, eliminate
them all.

After a contemptuous look, the last two Drakh depart the room.

EXTREME CLOSE-UP ON LYTA as she opens first one eye, than another, her face determined and furiously angry.

NEW ANGLE as Sheridan steps into the main corridor - curved, stark white, brightly lit and lightly populated, with nearly all persons human, save for a single Pak-Mar-Ah and two Centauri.

NEW ANGLE as Sheridan walks past a group of Psi-Corps agents sitting in an open lounge area.

ON PSI-CORPS AGENTS as they silently regard one another with tele-pathic messages (slight nods of the head) as they watch Sheridan walk past.

MOVING, ON SHERIDAN, determined and serious, as he clenches his jaw while passing them.

SHERIDAN POV as he sees GENERAL FRANKLIN, an African-American male of about 65, looking quite serious, waiting to greet him.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
President Sheridan. I'm glad you made it.

SHERIDAN
Yes, It is good to have a break from
Alliance business on Minbar.

Sheridan then looks down to his attache, which General Franklin notes - he carrying a matching attache.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
(quietly) Have you brought no security detail?

SHERIDAN
I'll only be here the time it takes for
the meeting and then will be leaving immed-
iately on a White Star. There do seem to be
an awful lot of Psi-corps agents here.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
Yes. EarthGov has become reliant upon
them for an ever larger share of secret
channel communications off-world. The
agents here can link up mentally with
telepaths unable to leave Earth because
of the plague.

SHERIDAN

of influence. Psi-Corps wanted more
power, and now they've got it.

are so many here. With so much of Earth's
personnel and infrastructure stuck on Earth,
our position has become weakened with respect
to our status in the Alliance and elsewhere.
Psi-Corps has filled the vacuum. It's been -
necessary - to use them.

SHERIDAN
I noticed the many alien ships stationed at
various points within our solar system.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
Some are friend, some are foe. Some,
who knows? The opportunists are ready. If
any transport tries to leave Earth and we
don't shoot it down, they will. They won't
let that virus spread off-world. And if the
virus does its job and all life on our world
is destroyed, they will move in and exploit
our resources. Earth has become completely
isolated and the situation has created a lot
of fear among our people down there.

SHERIDAN POV as he looks out the large observation window.

SHERIDAN
It looks so peaceful. It's hard to believe
a place so beautiful can be in so much peril.
Our people, made prisoners on our own world.

that Drakh virus is not found, and soon.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
It is hard to fight an enemy if you don't
know how great is their number, where
exactly they are, or. . . (cryptically)
who their allies are.

SHERIDAN/GENERAL FRANKLIN POV as they discreetly cast their eyes at Psi-Corps types in the central corridor.

SHERIDAN
(Sighs) The Drakh have been suspiciously
quiet for too long. After their attack on
Earth failed, I thought we'd get a break,
gain the upper hand somehow, learn how to
fight them, how to win. (a beat) General,
how is your son? It's been weeks since the
Alliance on Minbar or Babylon Five has heard
from the good doctor.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
My son Stephen is missing.

This is genuine news, SHERIDAN REACTS.

SHERIDAN
Missing?

GENERAL FRANKLIN
Several weeks ago he disappeared from his
post as director of Zenobiology at EarthDome.
His notes said that he had an important lead
in discovering a cure or way to disable the
Drakh virus. There are some who say he went
off-world.

SHERIDAN
Left Earth? He'll be killed as a plague-
carrier if he's found.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
Yes, I know. But you and I both know my son
Stephen. He'll do whatever it takes to save
our planet. Come, we should go. The others
are waiting.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM
Several people, all human, sit in the semi-darkened room. Faces cannot be clearly seen. Sheridan and General Franklin take seats.
TEAM LEADER
Thank you for coming from Minbar, Mr.
President.

TEAM MEMBER 2
The Team Leader has asked me to give
this to you.

TEAM MEMBER 2 places a datacrystal on the table surface in front of Sheridan, who then picks it up an holds it.

TEAM LEADER
Forgive the cloak and dagger, President
Sheridan. To protect each of us from tele-
pathic scans, it's better if we aren't
certain of each others' identities. The
ongoing telepath freedom movement has dim-
inished the pool of non-Psi-Corps telepaths
available to us for protective countermeasures
against their scans. Please play the datacrystal.

Sheridan places the datacrystal into a playback unit. Images show a SHADOW VESSEL emerging from beyond the Rim of the galaxy and firing a communication beam into the galaxy. A VORLON vessel rises up behind the Shadow vessel and fires its weapons, destroying the Shadow vessel which does not protect itself lest it be distracted from its task. The visual goes to static (CGI/COMPOSITE).

TEAM LEADER
That's all we got. A deep-space Drazi recon
ship recorded this three days ago, then was
fired upon and destroyed. Our agents on
assignment to find Drakh influence among the
Drazi recovered this datacrystal from a
Brukuri salvage hauler, who found it among
the wreckage. As you can see, the Shadows are
not entirely finished with our galaxy. We
believe they are communicating with the Drakh,
perhaps even directing their terror campaign.
A few days prior to this image being recorded,
a Psi-Corps survey vessel was spotted in the area.

SHERIDAN
Any connection?

TEAM LEADER
We don't know.

TEAM MEMBER 3
Although the Shadows and Vorlons agreed to

leave our galaxy at the end of their war,
they clearly still have some kind of agenda.
If you will play the next entry.

Sheridan waves his hand over the datacrystal and another image appears, this one with a schematic of the Milky Way galaxy moving to an enhanced close-up of a smaller galaxy enmeshed within the outer edge of one of its spiral arms with a dark region at its center (CGI/COMPOSITE).

TEAM MEMBER 3 (CONTINUED)
The trajectory of that signal was plotted,
and the coordinates of its destination lie
somewhere in the heart of this micro-galaxy
at the edge of our own Milky Way.

SHERIDAN
Near Vorlon space.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
We believe the risk to Earth and to our
galaxy from the Shadows may not be over. A
theory has emerged that the Shadows may have
intended on losing the war, and held their
real plans and resources in reserve for a
later assault led by their supporters, the Drakh.

SHERIDAN
Of course. If the Drakh can achieve the same
ends that the Shadows sought, conflict and war,
through different means, it is still a victory
for the Shadows. The stronger races can vanquish
the weaker ones and the opportunists get their
spoils. The Shadows achieve their original
design through the Drakh.

TEAM LEADER
As President of the Alliance, your first duties
are to the member worlds, including Earth. As a
fellow human, we implore you to devote all
available Alliance resources to help Earth find
the Drakh base, and destroy it.

TEAM MEMBER 2
We need you to launch a covert expedition to
find out what's in the sector that signal went
to. If, as we suspect, the Drakh base is there,
the fact that the Shadows are willing to reveal
themselves means the Drakh don't feel threat-
ened and thus have resources - weapons, defenses
- about which we know nothing, and may well be
preparing for their main offensive. (gravely)

TEAM MEMBER 2
There may be a cure to the plague there, and
if so, we need to find it. Time is running out.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
If the Drakh make another attack on Earth,
we cannot survive it.

SHERIDAN
As President of the Alliance, let me assure
you that finding and destroying the Drakh base
of operations is our highest priority. As a
human being, I make my personal pledge to have
our revenge for what the Drakh have done to our
world. The Alliance will devote whatever re-
sources it takes to destroy the Drakh threat,
and find a cure for the Drakh plague.

TEAM MEMBER 2
There is a special emphasis on secrecy due to
the fact that certain elements within the Psi-
Corps are no longer accountable to EarthGov
directives, if indeed they ever were. They may
be children of Earth, but they may betray Earth.

GENERAL FRANKLIN
We have long known that the Psi-Corps is a
beast that won't remain caged forever. Psi-
Corps's desire to rule Earth may have made
them vulnerable to Drakh influence, just as
certain of them fell under the spell of the
Shadows during the Shadow War. And perhaps
that is all that should be said here.

In the semi-darkness those assembled get up and leave, one-by-one.
General Franklin touches Sheridan's forearm to telling him to stay,
then they exchange attaches, and General Franklin exits. Sheridan takes the datacrystal in the playback unit and puts it in his breast pocket, concentrating intently as he mumbles quietly a phrase over and over.

Minbar. Give me the datacrystal.

SHERIDAN
I don't know what you're talking about. I
am on Alliance business, do not interfere.

BESTER
Please, there is no time for games. My
agents were telepathically present at your
meeting. You know, you should've taken better
precautions than you did. Most of what you
discussed we already know. But, the destination
point of that beacon from the Shadow vessel
interests us, but not for the reasons you might
think. Now, give me the datacrystal.

Bester looks to Sheridan's breast pocket as Sheridan firmly stares him down.

Sheridan sits as Girabaldi works the controls.

SHERIDAN
Yeah, well get us out of here. I had

SHERIDAN
He was about to go after this.

GIRABALDI
Ugh. Was that really necessary?

SHERIDAN
Yes, and it worked. This mass of living neural
matter blocked Bester from reading what was in
here. But, he grew suspicious. If I hadn't had
a memory flash of Kosh, which somehow disabled
Bester, he would have this now.

Sheridan puts the case away, putting the datacrystal in the player.

GIRABALDI
Kosh?

SHERIDAN
It wasn't just a memory - it was something
more. . . It let me get away from Bester.
Bester was scanning me, trying to get me to
think of what was in the attache, and an image
of Kosh came to my mind. He spoke to me.

GIRABALDI

I'm surprised Bester showed up himself.

SHERIDAN
We knew Psi-Corps would try something
when we scheduled the meeting for
Earthbase Eleven. They certainly want
to know what we know about the Drakh.
But why? (thinking out loud) If they
are already working with the Drakh - ?

GIRABALDI
Did he go for the fake?

SHERIDAN
I think so. If the Psi-Corps pursues
the coordinates we gave them on the
other datacrystal, we will at least
have them thinking that's where we'll
make our assault. If they're working
with the Drakh, they'll look for us
there. If Psi-Corps has allied with
the Drakh, we'll be in a better strat-
egic position to fight this war on two
fronts. It'll mean killing humans.

GIRABALDI
Do Psi-Corps count as human?

SHERIDAN
Yes, Michael, they do. If you could
look beyond your personal hatred of
Bester for what he did to you -

GIRABALDI
Yeah, well, I think it'll be a cold
day in hell before that! The man messed
with my mind, rearranged things until I
didn't know who I was or what I believed -
I hope the plan works, and we can force
Psi-Corps to show their hand, but I'll bet
they're on the wrong side again. CUT TO

What better irony than to colonize

your enemy's home?

GIRABALDI
But the Vorlon homeworld is guarded

TESSA
The heightened security sweeps have
come up negative again. Zack's got his
people working overtime, and we're
going through the cargo transports with
a fine-tooth comb. Other than the usual
black market smuggling and drug-running,
so far, nothing.

LOCHLEY
We know the Drakh assault is coming.
Babylon Five is a major target. It's not
right that we haven't found anything yet,
some kind of weapons.

TESSA
It could be that the rogue telepaths
which have accumulated here over the
past few months harbor agents for the
Drakh, and they're telepathically
blocking us from seeing dangers right
in front of us.

LOCHLEY
The telepaths gathering here are on
what amounts to a religious quest, to
find and create their own homeworld.

LOCHLEY (CONTINUED)
We're their jumping-off point. It's
not in their self-interest any longer
to help non-telepaths, human or alien.

TESSA
I don't believe it either. But I'm
running out of ideas as to why we
haven't seen any form of sabotage
from the Drakh yet

Lochley steps over to the large viewing window, Tessa following, they watch several transports lining up to dock (CGI).

LOCHLEY
We know it's coming. It's just a
matter of when.

DRAKH ON BABYLON FIVE
Remain silent. It will be over

You will do everything as told, or

An arch-ealogical dig with a tunnel entrance into the mountain is visible below, near a blast crater at the base of the mountain (MATTE).

EXT. NARN ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE
The White Star has landed, its delegation disembarking, DELENN emerges with LENNIER, wearing his black Ranger uniform, along with
other Minbari. G'Kar, who is huffing and puffing a bit from his run, waves a greeting and flashes a smile.

NEW ANGLE as G'Kar and Delenn embrace one another, the beautiful White Star in the BG, as well as the mountain and entrance to the archaeological site in the other direction. G'Kar takes note of the presence of Lennier, and attempts to mask his expression that he finds this a little unusual. A couple of Narn aides join G'Kar.

DELENN
G'Kar. It has been too long.

G'KAR
Indeed it has, Delenn.

LENNIER
G'Kar. (bows)

G'KAR
Lennier.

G'Kar bows to Lennier.

LENNIER
You look well.

G'KAR
As do you. It is a bit of a
reunion of sorts.

LENNIER
(to Delenn) I shall return to the
White Star.

Lennier returns to the White Star, accompanied by a couple of other Minbari, while two Minbari stationed near the entrance to the craft set up a table and chairs in the BG.

G'KAR
I am so excited to have you here!
You look wonderful, Delenn.

DELENN
Thank you, G'Kar. I thought we'd
have lunch, although I cannot
stay long.

G'KAR
A tremendous idea! I appreciate you
coming on such short notice.

DELENN
Your message said it was of the
utmost urgency.

G'KAR
It is. How is President Sheridan?

DELENN
John is well, thank you. I'm afraid
I have not seen that much of him
lately, as I have had much business
on Minbar and he has been very busy
with Alliance matters on member
worlds, Babylon Five and elsewhere.

G'KAR
And the coming offensive against
the Drakh . . .

Delenn does not answer.

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
Delenn, surely you can share infor-
mation about that. It affects the
whole of the Alliance.

DELENN
Things are at a critical stage, G'Kar.
Perhaps after we've concluded our busi-
ness here, I can share more information.

G'KAR
Very well. (a beat) I don't mean to
pry, but is everything all right?

Delenn takes G'Kar by the arm and they walk a bit, away from the others. G'Kar takes a parasol from a Narn aide and carries it,
forgetting initially to offer it to Delenn as they emerge from the shadow of the White Star's wing into the blazing sun.

DELENN
Lennier and I have been spending
time together since he turned him-
self in, and this has created a bit
of a strain in my relationship with
John. My love for John is undiminished,
but I am torn in so many ways. It has
been a difficult transition for John,
living among Minbari on Minbar. And
now with Earth facing the death of all
its people and other lifeforms from
the Drakh plague. . .

G'KAR
Yes, that is terrible. The Drakh seem
to match even the Shadows in their evil.
If I may say so, about your relationship,
the Minbari are the only race where more
than two in a relationship seems to work.
We Narns are like the humans, we are very
possessive of our mates.

They stop walking, G'Kar remembers the parasol as Delenn shields her eyes, squinting at the sun's glare. GROWLING from a couple of NARN SOLDIERS wrestling nearby draws their attention, as if to
emphasize the point, and reminds them both of the Narns reputation as unsophisticated. G'Kar waves the parasol at them as he yells.

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
You there! Behave in a manner which
befits a soldier! (notices the parasol)
Oh my! Here, I brought this for you.
(opens and hands her the parasol) How
forgetful of me! So many things on my
mind these days.

DELENN
That is not what I meant, G'Kar. Thank you.
(she gets comfortable with the shade) The
humans have an expression for it, "I love
him, but I am not in love with him." Had
I never met John, Lennier would've
probably been my perfect mate - loyal
and true to the last. But the fates
took my life in another direction. I
am in love with John. And after
Lennier's actions on our journey to
Minbar when we left Babylon Five -

They begin to walk again.

G'KAR
I had heard about that.

DELENN
Yes, it seems a many people did.
Lennier's obsessive love for me un-
hinged his mind - and in a terrible
moment he forgot all reason and nearly
left John to die. He is undergoing the
Krulkya, the ritual of atonement. The
Rangers have allowed him to remain as
one of them while he pays his debt.

G'KAR
I see.

DELENN
And now, after many weeks apart, I

will be seeing John on Babylon Five,
of all places, after I am finished
here. The place John and I met. And
where we met.

G'KAR
Ah, Babylon Five. I have a felt a
strange compulsion to go there of
late - and I don't know why. Ah, I
have fond memories of the place. Yes
it was the two of you, Sheridan and
Delenn, who tipped the balance in
the Shadow War and saved the galaxy.

DELENN
That is overstating it a bit. So many
people, including you, including
Lennier, had important roles in our
victory over the darkness in that war.
It hurts me to see how things have
turned out for Lennier now.

G'KAR
The pains of the heart can heal, but
they hurt worse than any battle wound.
I've heard Sheridan has gone to Earth -
to an orbiting base there.

DELENN
(Surprised) As usual you are up on
the latest information. John has an
important meeting there.

G'KAR
Did it involve the telepath rebellion
or the reports of activity beyond
the Rim?

Delenn stops walking, as does G'KAR.

DELENN
G'Kar, the Alliance is preparing for
the Drakh to strike. The Shadows have
broken their vow not to interfere in
affairs in our galaxy and are sending
signals to what we believe is a Drakh
base.

G'KAR
They do seem to hate the humans the
most for their part in leading the
fight against the Shadows. The humans
run Babylon Five, it is their last
free place now that most of them are

trapped on their homeworld. And it
stands as a symbol of cooperation
among the races.

DELENN
Many Alliance resources are devoted
to find the Drakh base of operations
and their hiding places, but we do not
yet have definitive proof that these
signals from the Shadows are going to a
Drakh base. It could be nothing more than
a ruse to throw us off our guard. As in
the Shadow War, individual Alliance worlds,
individual races, fear the consequences of
their association with the Alliance, part-
icularly the humans - of being seen by
the Drakh as provocateurs. Some seem to
want to tolerate Drakh intrusions into
their space, the Drakh manipulation of
their worlds. They are afraid.

Again they stop walking, G'Kar gesturing for emphasis.

G'KAR
They need to be reminded that freedom
does not come without risk, that some-
times blood is the price for peace!

DELENN
Exactly. I could not have said it
better. That is part of the reason I
came here today. I would like you to
come with me to Babylon Five and speak
to members of the Alliance, to remind
them of this very fact. I'm sure you
know that President Sheridan has called
a meeting of the Alliance ambassadors
on Babylon Five. You have a way with
words, G'Kar. People respect you, all
that you've been through. A statement
from you could go a long way toward
building morale, and keeping member
worlds in line. Some have pledged
their forces, but others have not.
Many are holding ships we need in
reserve to protect their homeworlds.

G'KAR
There is logic in that.

DELENN
We need them all, G'Kar, every avail-
able warship. Fear is paralyzing too
many in the Alliance.

G'KAR
Hmmm. At any other time, I would
gladly honor your request. But times
are especially difficult here on Narn
now, Delenn. Things are very fluid
politically. There are certain fascist
elements among the old guard agitating
for revenge on the Centauri yet a broad
peace movement is growing among the
young. I fear the potential for civil
war. I don't think, for the sake of my
people, that I can leave now. And,
besides, our forces were so devastated
in our war with the Centauri, we could
only offer a handful of ships.

DELENN
We will take all we can get. Please
consider my request to come to Babylon
Five. The Alliance needs your wisdom.

G'Kar seems struck by the word. They start walking again.

G'KAR
With regard to the telepaths, even
some Minbari telepaths have joined the
human telepaths' quest for a home-world
I have heard. Their rebellion seems to be
spreading. Only we Narn, who no longer
have telepaths, seem free of the problem.

DELENN
The matter of telepaths now affects all
of the Alliance worlds, in one way or
another. It is my understanding that
some rogue telepaths have found temp-
orary sanctuary here on Narn.

G'Kar remains silent, but his face betrays the truth of her words.

DELENN (CONTINUED)
The Narn desire to re-acquire the tele-
path gene is well-known. I believe the
issue of what to do about the telepaths
cannot be put off any longer. We in the
Alliance must address the issue of
creation of a telepath homeworld where
they can live free from persecution. It
was an issue for the humans initially,
but now it is all of our problem. The
timing is just so awkward. Their demands
are legitimate, but the attention of the
Alliance is necessarily on the Drakh
threat. It seems no one has time to
listen to them -

Which could become a big problem for us
all. Talon, our ambassador, tells me
they gather in ever-growing numbers on
Babylon Five, waiting, waiting, waiting
- for what? A people in exile - I'm
afraid I don't foresee a happy ending.

DELENN
Telepaths were bred and led from the
start. What kind of freedom can such
people truly ever know? To not even
be free to be alone with your own
thoughts, I cannot imagine such an
existence. (a beat) Tell me, what of
your travels with Lyta Alexander?

G'KAR
We saw wonders you couldn't imagine.
And terrors one shouldn't mention. Most
terrifying of all was what happened to
Lyta when we left Babylon Five together.
There is very little left of what made
her human. Whatever the Vorlons did to
her, she now has powers beyond compre-
hension. I can't imagine why they would
have made her so powerful. What is their
ultimate plan? I haven't seen her nor
heard from her since she abandoned me
on Mea Calpernica. It took me weeks to
get a transport out of there!

DELENN
Did you take the leadership role your
people wanted for you? I notice your
wardrobe has changed.

G'KAR
I am serving as Exalted Advisor to the
provisional government - whatever that
means. They are trying to reestablish
the council of the Kari - with me at its
head. I'm afraid the religious worship
my people now bestow upon me has only
abated somewhat. I made them take down
all the large statues of me, but you still
see the small ones from time to time.

DELENN
So much has changed on all of our worlds
since we all first met on Babylon Five.
Civil war on Earth and Minbar. The deva-

than I imagined. From space -

free people again! The Centauri were not
able to carry out their final solution on
our world. And in the end they too suf-

Shadows helped them in their war against we
Narn, but now Centauri Prime burns. When
you make a pact with evil, well, that's what
you get. But we are here for much more
pleasant endeavors!

G'Kar takes Delenn arm in arm, leading her to the tunnel entrance.

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
Please, this way.

DELENN
Speaking of the Centauri, Emperor
Molari - Londo - is going to Babylon
Five. He is making an Imperial tour of
Centauri territory - with an official
state visit to Babylon Five.

G'KAR
I had heard that. With the Drakh threat,
one would think it an inopportune time
for such a tour.

DELENN
Yes, one would think. When my visit
here is concluded, I will be taking
the White Star to Babylon Five. I would
like you to come with me when I go.

G'KAR
Delenn, I must think about it. And to
see Londo - I don't know if I can bear
to see him as he is now. Several years
ago, who would've thought it? He has all
the trappings of power, but none of the
happiness. I swear, I have never known
a more miserable person in all my life.
Londo the drunk, Londo the gambler, Londo
the schemer. And now, Londo, the emperor.

DELENN
And who would've thought that I would
transform myself into one who is part
human? Or that you would become the
supreme religious leader of the Narn?
Life is a strange journey sometimes.
But I believe our character is defined
by how we walk the path of our heart.
Life sometimes puts a path in front of
you not of your choosing, and only
your heart can guide you.

G'KAR
But one must apply reason as well,
lest the pull of the heart lead you
astray. Yet walk the paths of our
hearts we must, whatever the heart is
- instinct, memory, an outside spirit-
ual force. Londo has achieved all that
he wanted, but I know it is very
bittersweet for him.

G'Kar stops them walking, gesturing for emphasis.

G'KAR(CONT.)
After the Narn/Centauri war - which
the Shadows set in motion - using Londo,
playing on his ambition and weaknesses,
I reached out to Londo because of a
vision I had. I had a revelation - a
religious epiphany - that our two
peoples need each other. We have been
at each other's throats for so many
generations because we are so alike,
and our pride and honor don't ever let
us stop the fighting. Behind our scales,
behind their hair, we are not so dif-
ferent. If only our two peoples could
focus on what makes us similar rather
than what makes us different. I have
always sensed, and believe to this day,
that there is a good person somewhere
inside of Londo Molari.(In small voice)
"Let me out. Let me out" I can hear him
saying. But that person is trapped by
Centauri prejudice, ritual, and culture
- and, maybe, something more.

Delenn discreetly REACTS, knowing the truth.

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
I don't know that he will ever find
a way out.

DELENN
Londo needs to listen to his heart,
or hearts in his case, and I don't
know if he knows how to do that.

Delenn's hair is starting to frizz from the heat as they near the tunnel entrance.

DELENN (CONTINUED)
It is indeed very hot here on Narn.

G'KAR
We Narns are ectotherms; we take
our warmth from the sun - we love it!

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
And today is a beautiful day. The
hottest day in more than a year! More
and more, Delenn, the sky clears from
the dust storms kicked up by the mass-
drivers the Centauri used against our
world. This crater here was made by one
of them. But it revealed to us what I
want to show you today. And today is a
perfect day to share with you what we
have found!

G'Kar enthusiastically takes Delenn by the arm and leads her into a passageway inside the mountain. The deference of the Narn guards indicates G'Kar's high position, and in the BG can be seen Minbari
stationed near their White Star.

INT. NARN ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE
G'Kar leads Delenn through short winding tunnel in the rock to a medium sized cavern - it's spherical dome shape is perfect, seem-ingly protected against geologic forces.

ANGLE ON DELENN AND G'KAR as they enter. Vertical panels, seemingly of stone, are arrayed in a circle around the room, which at its center features the top of a large crystalline sphere emerging from the floor. Glyphs and writing on the panels is Vorlon and early Narn. Among the images is one of a Shadow creature.

DELENN
What is this place?

G'KAR
It is a sacred temple - from a Narn
civilization pre-dating the present
one. And this, this is Vorlon writing!
(quietly) The Vorlons made contact
with our people aeons ago. And all
this time we thought they looked upon
us as too primitive to be worthy of
their attention. Delenn, you are the
one person I can trust with what we've
found here.

Delenn leans close to the sphere.

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
Go on, you can touch it.

Delenn touches it, and it gives off a resonant pure CHIME and a static wave passes along the invisible spherical barrier giving dimension to the room (CGI).

most sacred place on Minbar. CONTINUED

G'KAR
There's more. Follow me.

G'Kar leads Delenn behind a panel which is ajar.

SECRET PASSAGEWAY
They slowly progress through the short hall.

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
Delenn, because of my writings, and
my actions during the Centauri and
Shadow Wars, I am now regarded by my
people as the supreme religious leader.
We have no separate religious caste as
with your people, but I now find my-
self holding a position in society
which I could only equate to the head
of the religious caste on Minbar -
the position you hold.

G'Kar stops and takes Delenn's hands.

G'KAR(CONTINUED)
But I don't feel I have all the answers,
particularly in this matter. Thus, I
must ask your counsel on what we've
found. Only I and two scientists know
what is here.

They enter a hidden chamber.

HIDDEN CHAMBER
G'Kar and Delenn squeeze through a fallen entrance panel opening and walk toward a central pedestal holding a tiny glowing white stone (about the size of a coin). A couple of shafts of sunlight filters in around them from cracks in the rocks on one side (CGI).

ANGLE ON GLOWING STONE as it intensely radiates a diffuse white light, and creates a low pleasing TONE (CGI).

DELENN
What is it?

G'KAR
It is a gift from the Vorlons, from
an age when we Narn had no better than
stone age technology, and the Vorlons
had not hardened into the cynical
warriors they became, they left us
the device below. We believe this is
the control mechanism.

DELENN
The Vorlons were still nurturing races
and helping them to evolve at that time
in history. You said a mechanism?

G'KAR
It is a power source, Delenn! A power
source of such magnitude it could be
used to restore our world ten times over
- (gravely) or, as a great and terrible
weapon. We Narn, who have been bombed
almost back into the stone age now have
the means to generate enough power to
rebuild our entire world in less than
a generation.

CLOSE ON G'KAR

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
But I fear that my people will quickly
set their hearts on revenge. We are a
warrior race. I do not think I alone can
convince them to look past old hatreds
and agree that we must end the fighting
between Narn and Centauri for once and
for all. How do I convince them, Delenn?

DELENN
(a beat) I see your dilemma. Is it
operational?

G'KAR
All that's left is to figure out how to
make it work. You wouldn't believe the
energy readings we've taken from it.

DELENN
What is this inscription? I recognize
the Vorlon, but it appears to be a
dialect -

G'KAR
Yes, a different dialect than the one
they used in modern times. One of our
scientists thinks he knows what it means.

DELENN
I can only make out part of it from
the Vorlon I have studied. "End fire..."

G'KAR
"An end in fire or a new beginning in
light. The one with wisdom will choose."

DELENN REACTS.

DELENN
G'Kar, you are the one with wisdom.
Don't you see? You are the one who
will choose. We are people of destiny,
G'Kar. When Sheridan went to Zahadoum

and died, only to have his life force
given back to him by the First One Lorian,
he knew in that moment he must sacrifice
his life - not knowing it wasn't the end.
When I underwent the transformation I did,
becoming an outcast among my own people
despite the high positions I hold, I did
it because I sensed a destiny before me.
G'Kar, you too have a destiny.

G'KAR
What is clear, Delenn, is that we cannot
let this fall into the wrong hands. Who
knows how much power this could generate,
and what it could do if used as a weapon?
We do not yet know how to make it work. I
have thought carefully about offering it
to the Alliance to fight the Drakh, if we
can get it to work. But I cannot make that
decision alone. Until our government works
out its problems, we are not likely to come
to consensus on anything. I called you here
to ask for Ranger protection for this find.
This must be kept secret for as long as pos-
sible - certainly until we learn how to
safely operate it. It's clear from the
artifacts all around that this is intended
for Narns, for our world. As we cannot yet
properly defend ourselves after our losses
in the wars, I ask for you to help us pro-
tect what is ours through your influence
with the Alliance on Babylon Five and as
head of the Rangers.

DELENN
I will tell you now that the Alliance
plans a major assault against the Drakh
if we find their base.

G'KAR
I had suspected as much.

DELENN
Nearly all Rangers and their White Stars
will be involved in this task. But I will
discuss it with them. I don't know what
resources we could allocate, but we'll find
a way. I agree this is too important to
leave undefended.

They exit, and head to the main chamber.

DELENN
Why did the Vorlons leave this for
Narn? Do you know?

G'KAR
The inscriptions in the panels of this
place tell the whole story. The Vorlons

geography in space. We lie directly

historically Shadow-controlled space.

Delenn and G'Kar emerge into the main chamber.

G'KAR
The Shadows are mentioned -

He motions to a panel with a Shadow image on it.

from opportunists who would misuse
it. Let me return to the White Star

why you feel you cannot leave.

G'KAR
I will record a message for the Alliance.
I will relay it to Talon at Babylon Five,
to be played at your meeting of the Council.
I can at least do that.

formidable presence.

LONDO'S DRAKH
Obey.

LONDO
(trying to stay quiet)
I'm sick of obeying! I have done
everything you've told me to so that
you won't kill more of my people or
destroy more of Centauri Prime. You
Drakh have made my life a living hell
with this - (motions to his neck)

LONDO'S DRAKH
Hell lasts forever. Your life won't.

Londo suffers a flash of pain then collects himself. He opens his eyes to see that the Drakh is gone, and returns to the bridge, his brow dappled with sweat and his face pale.

All eyes are on Londo as he returns.

LONDO
(softly)
Obey.

CENTAURI CAPTAIN
What, your highness?

LONDO
I said, "another drink."

His cup is refilled, as he walks to, then looks over the state-of-the-art command console and the diligent staff manning the controls, then casts a disdainful glance back at the observation deck. The other Centauri discreetly look back, wondering.

LONDO (CONTINUED)
So this is what we get for seven
billion Centauri ducats. Very impres-
sive. I'm sure the late Emperor Cartagia
would've been happy to see the finished
product. Perhaps I should've taken his
rotting head off the pike it was put on
and placed it on prow of this ship so
he could see where I go in his place.

IMPERIAL AIDE
Emperor?

Londo casually walks over to the Captain's chair and stands next to the captain, making him uncomfortable, then drinks down his cup and hands the cup to an aide.

LONDO
So the traditional tour of the empire
is almost complete. All we have left is
our outer perimeter sentry at Heshland
and a courtesy call to Babylon Five. How
long until we get to there?

CENTAURI CAPTAIN
A little less than one standard day,
your highness.

LONDO
Not Heshland, Babylon Five!

CENTAURI CAPTAIN
Three days, your highness.

LONDO

go much faster, yes?

CENTAURI CAPTAIN
Of course, emperor. We travel at the
speed set forth under royal protocols.

LONDO
Yes, the protocols. (eyes the seat)
May I, captain?

Londo stares down the captain, making him give up his command chair. Londo takes the chair, enjoying the moment.

a feeling it will just come to me.
I was once a pilot myself, you know,

captain. But power is not freeing the
way piloting a vessel is. . . at least
not for me. Power comes with strings
attached. . .you two know a little
something about that.

Londo looks to the telepath sisters.

LONDO (CONTINUED)
Power, forever pulling you this way

power suffocates.

IMPERIAL AIDE
You're in an introspective mood this

I've had to make, then you may talk

havoc with the artificial gravity systems.

CENTAURI CAPTAIN
Emperor Molari, the stresses on the
Imperial vessel -

LONDO
Will be within limits, if the reports
I've read about the construction of this
vessel can be believed. If the money
really went into this vessel and not
into the contractors' pockets, we will
be able to do a Molari loop, yes? (a beat)

angle they're playing or how they wish to
use me, or harm me. It is I who had one of
my agents on Earth put that information
into your mind.

DR. FRANKLIN
You have a long reach.

LYTA
The galaxy is very large; I need one.
(a beat) I arranged for you to be where
I found you - and why my ship is equipped
for you. (motions to the glass) I have a
role for you to play. Right now, I need
you to sit very still, and breathe very
slowly. Lower your heart rate if you can.
DR. FRANKLIN
What are you going to do?

Lyta's eyes blaze white again, as he complies (CGI).

LYTA
I'm going to cure you of that Drakh
virus coursing through your body.

DR. FRANKLIN
But there are billions of virus
particles - machines really. How?

LYTA
Every machine has a brain, in this
case there are just a lot of them.

Lyta's eyes glow furiously white as she concentrates, rising to a standing position, with streams of white light passing from her eyes to Dr. Franklin, enveloping him briefly with a white halo
around his body. . . then the light fades completely (CGI).

LYTA
How do you feel?

DR. FRANKLIN
Not so different, I'm afraid.

Lyta operates a control, and the facing pane of glass pulls back.

DR. FRANKLIN
Lyta!

LYTA
You are cured. No Drakh virus particles
in your body or on your person or things
is operable any longer. Now, does your
medical bag have something to help me?

Dr. Franklin is stunned, yet immediately removes a scanner from his medical bag and points it toward himself reading its findings - his jaw drops at the truth of her words. He now tends to Lyta's wounds.

LYTA (CONTINUED)
Hungry?

DR. FRANKLIN
Starving, now that you mention it.

Lyta gives him some bread, and he devours a bite while immediately beginning to treat her wounds.

LYTA
Thank you, Stephen.

DR. FRANKLIN
What's going to happen, Lyta?

LYTA
I can't tell you yet. But you should know
that there is hope for Earth. It comes at
a price, however. That's all I can say for
now. I'll need to sleep for a while when
you're finished. Then we have important
business together.

Babylon Five. CUT TO
EXT. HYPERSPACE
Moving very slowly, the PSI-CORPS MOTHERSHIP appears almost motion-less, with a few support vessels nearby, and a few Drakh vessels berthed next to it (CGI) as we PUSH IN.
CUT TO

INT. PSI-CORPS MOTHERSHIP/CORRIDOR
CAMERA PULLS BACK as BESTER walks TOWARD CAMERA in a FULL SHOT as
he heads forthrightly along a main hall. His face is stern as we
MOVE CLOSE on his expression.

NEW ANGLE as BESTER turns down another hall and we see the sleek, military, arched-corridor, spare steel look of the ship. A few Psi-Corps guards stand at either side of a doorway on the right.

CUT TO

INT. PSI-CORP MOTHERSHIP CONFERENCE ROOM
BESTER enters the empty room, his jaw clenched. Emerging from the shadows in the semi-darkened room is the DRAKH ENVOY.

DRAKH ENVOY
And what is your decision?

BESTER
The decision we reached is that we
will make no decision at this time.

Bester slowly circles the Drakh, glancing warily behind his cowl.

DRAKH ENVOY
You must decide now. The plan is
unfolding as we speak.

BESTER
(laughs) No, I don't think so. It serves
your purposes if we decide to join you,
but it is not clear to us how it serves
ours. Your people did, after all, poison
our homeworld. I will miss the blue sky,
the crashing of the waves, the flowers,
the trees, if my world dies because of your
poison. Many Psi-Corps telepaths are trapped
on Earth. Many millions more humans with the
telepath gene are also trapped on Earth. The
Psi-Corps is mother, the Psi-Corps is father.
Yet we cannot protect them, provide for their
well-being if they cannot leave, or, worse,
face a death sentence. And we have heard

BESTER (CONTINUED)
disturbing reports about telepath cloning by
the Drakh. How is it then, that it serves our
interests to join you?

DRAKH ENVOY
You seek to rule your world. And you wish to
survive. We will use our influence to remove
those in the way to insure that power is yours.
We have promised an antidote for those chosen
to survive. We have shown you one who has been
cured of the virus. We will give you the cure.
But you must join us. . .or become our enemy.

BESTER
I have never liked threats, and, forgive my
skepticism, I and my associates remain uncon-
vinced of the Drakh ability and willingness to
deliver such an antidote.

The Drakh pulls out of his cloak a vial of blue-colored liquid encased in a cube of clear resin-like material.

DRAKH ENVOY
Do you doubt now?

BESTER REACTS.
DRAKH ENVOY (CONTINUED)
You know that I speak the truth. This is
the antidote. Enough for one.

BESTER
(scans) You speak the truth. But even if you
were to provide us the antidote - in sufficient
quantity - our world wouldn't be worth living
on without plants and animals and the necessary
microorganisms which form the basis of our food-
chain. Some species are lost already. Saving one
species is one thing, a whole world, quite another.

DRAKH ENVOY
They can be cloned. Those species not already
dead can be saved. Earth and its humans des-
troyed our home, Zahadoum. But we will allow
you to save yours.

BESTER
You blew up Zahadoum when you left it. I was
there. Humans didn't destroy it.

DRAKH ENVOY
Not so! Sheridan's nuclear weapons made our
home uninhabitable, the radiation spread
throughout -

There is an uncomfortable impasse.
CONTINUED
CONTINUED
BESTER
You have weakened Earth, perhaps permanently,
and tilted the balance of power in Earth
sector clearly toward the Alliance, and against
you. If we join you, we become the enemy of the
Alliance. The Psi-Corps has always preferred to
keep a low profile. We are without the resources
to defend a whole planet ourselves.

DRAKH ENVOY
After our masters' final plan unfolds - and we
release our new weapon - the Alliance will exist
no more, and a weakened Earth will be there for
the taking by the strongest. Help us destroy the
Alliance and Earth is yours to rule.

BESTER
There was a time when we in the Psi-Corps
thought war was coming, when telepaths would
have to destroy, or at the very least, subjugate
the mundanes on Earth. Your poison has taken the
steam out of that. Tell me, just what is going
on at the Rim? And what of this new weapon?

The Drakh squares off.

DRAKH ENVOY
Do not attempt to scan me for your answers, or
I will make it a painful experience for you.

BESTER
You Drakh do enjoy special mental powers. You're
not telepaths exactly. And those creatures, a
very unique form of control and communication.
However, based on past performance, your side
seems to keep its end of a bargain. But not every-
one in Psi-Corps wanted the alliance with the
Shadows. Psi-Corps is, believe it or not, a rather democratic organization. It's hard not to be when everyone is reading everyone else's thoughts -
lies don't last very long. The quarantine of
Earth, however, has caused a split in Psi-Corps leadership - those on Earth and those of us out
here aren't exactly seeing eye to eye these days.
I am no longer answerable to the 'folks back home'
as it were. I dare say the leadership of Psi-Corps
there is desperate to strike a deal - anything to
save themselves. We know what Psi-Corps on Earth
has promised you. But out here, where we are a
little more objective, loyalties have - shifted.

ON BESTER hardening his gaze. About a dozen serious-looking, black-clad Psi-Cops enter the room and form a circle around the Drakh.

BESTER (CONTINUED)
It is time for you to leave. And I will
take the antidote.
CONTINUED

CONTINUED

The Drakh squares off again, his back stiffening.

DRAKH ENVOY
You will do no such thing.

The Drakh pulls another clear cube from his cowl, this one contain-ing a vial of red liquid. Bester and the other telepaths instantly REACT, recoiling in horror. As he speaks, the Drakh holds the cube outstretched, as if a torch, clearing a circle around himself.

DRAKH ENVOY (CONTINUED)
Ah, you know what this is. Yes, it is the
virus developed by the human Edgars to kill
telepaths. It is we who stole it from you
after you stole it from him - after you
murdered him on Mars. We modified the virus
to kill telepaths of any species, but since
human telepaths serve our needs best, we have
designed it for greatest effectiveness against
human telepaths. I can remove the protective
casing and destroy every telepath aboard this
vessel. How then would the Psi-Corps rule the
Earth? You have no choice but to align your-
selves with us.

The Drakh uses telekineses to send a datacrystal flying from
Bester's jacket pocket into his other outstretched hand, whereupon he crushes it.

DRAKH ENVOY (CONTINUED)
The information given to you was false. We
too had operatives at the Earthbase for
Sheridan's meeting. Sheridan and the Alliance
seek to manipulate you - to make fools of
you. Our masters saw great promise in you
and your organization. And now you dare to
fail them? Reconsider your position, carefully.
Look now into my mind.

The Drakh stares down Bester, who responds by scanning the Drakh.

DRAKH ENVOY (CONTINUED)
This is what Sheridan didn't want you to
see. Go to this place, then give us your
answer. We will be there. Accept the new order,
accept the role we have chosen for you. Or be
destroyed.

The Drakh heads for the exit opening the door telekinetically, Psi-Corps agents almost jumping aside for him, and is gone.

ANGLE ON BESTER as he huddles with a couple senior officers.

BESTER (VO)
Prepare my ship and crew, at once.
CROSSFADE EXT. NARN - ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE
DELENN sits in the shade under the wing of the White Star, G'KAR beside her, they are having lunch.

G'KAR
I know it is hot for you and the rest
of the Minbari. We can eat inside.

DELENN
I wouldn't think of it, G'Kar. "When in
Rome, do as the Romans," the humans say.
The Rangers will call with their answer
soon. Events are unfolding even now which
affect their allocation. (a beat) You know,
I should've visited your world much sooner.

G'KAR
Yes, I could've taken you to the Temples of
Kamfoor - gone now. It was our greatest
architectural achievement - before. . .I'm
just glad you're here under good circumstances.
'Tis better to have too much good fortune to
trouble you than too little. Mmmm. This is
good, what is it?

DELENN
The humans make it from the processed milk
of a large land herbivore - cheese they call
it. It's really become quite popular on Minbar.
We've imported some of these animals - bovines
- cows - they are called. And an even better
cheese is made from the milk of a smaller
animal - goats they are called.

In the BG a military style Narn vessel lands, a safe distance from the White Star (CGI).

G'KAR
Hmm. I wonder what they're doing out here?

DELENN
That is a military vessel, is it not?

G'KAR
Yes. Probably some general wanting to see
what we're up to - probably doesn't believe
our cover story and wants to stick their
nose in my business. (Impatient) Delenn,
how long do you think it will take to get
an answer from the Rangers?

DELENN
I will get the answer soon.

G'KAR
I see. Your hair is -

Delenn's hair is feeling the effects of the heat.

DELENN
I think the heat is causing me to have
what the humans call a "bad hair day."

G'Kar and Delenn laugh, the Minbari attendants decidedly less amused.
G'KAR
Those humans, they seem to have a clever
phrase for everything.

DELENN
(laughs) One of my favorite Lt. Commander
Ivanova used to say. "Ah hell!" It is an
expletive in their English language, but
in Minbari it means "continuous fire." She
wasted many White Star energy blasts with
that phrase. Marcus told me that one.

G'KAR
Ah, Marcus. He made the ultimate sacrifice
in his love for Ivanova.

DELENN
Yes, he did. Marcus is greatly missed by
the Rangers. And by me.

G'Kar suspiciously eyes the Narns approaching in the BG.

G'KAR
What could they want? I have one, "For
crying out loud!" Can you imagine? As you
know, for Narns it is taboo to cry out -
at least until my book was published it was.
Now it is almost a fashion among the young to
cry out - and to use that human phrase! Youth-
ful rebellion they say. Ah, times are changing
on my world, Delenn, old customs dying out.
And here I sit, trapped in the garb of a
religious leader, - I, a warrior by nature.

DELENN
Neroon.

G'KAR
I beg your pardon?

DELENN
Neroon was a great warrior of my people. He
only came to discover his religious calling
at the very end. A great man, who sacrificed
his life to save my people from the horrors
of civil war. You made me think of him.

G'KAR
My world feels on the edge of momentous
change. Tell me, Delenn, do you ever
regret your transformation?

Lennier emerges from the White Star.

LENNIER
Sensors have picked up several vessels
approaching from hyperspace - one with
a Centauri signature - We should return

G'KAR
Centauri?

G'KAR POV as he steps into the sun and sees a large jump-point forming with the Centauri Imperial vessel emerging (CGI).

G'KAR

DELENN
That's the Imperial Ship. I don't

LENNIER
We must get aboard the White Star -

A jump-point forms just behind the Centauri vessel and countless Drakh wardrones spill out, bunched together to fit through the jump-gate and not in a geometric formation as before. The Centauri vessel fires upon the drones, and they return fire (CGI).

DELENN
In the name of Valen!

G'KAR
Not again.

Delenn looks plaintively to G'Kar.

G'KAR
My place is here. Go!

ANGLE ON WHITE STAR as Delenn and the others quickly board.

ON N'TOTH as she and her soldiers use rifle-like blasters and shoot at the Drakh drones. Incoming bursts of fire hit the ground here and there as the Drakh drones begin to form into a pattern (CGI).

N'TOTH
We picked up the Centauri vessel

A blast from a Drakh war drone hits nearby (CGI).

N'TOTH (CONTINUED)
We believe it to be a Centauri attack!
We've come for you -

G'KAR
A Centauri attack!? Have you not eyes
to see? The Centauri vessel is attacking
those things, and they're firing on the
Centauri vessel!

The White Star lifts off, already taking hits from the Drakh war drones. Narn planetary ground defenses, sparse though they are, begin to fire on the drones and on the Centauri vessel. A few Narns
nearby are killed by an incoming blast. The Drakh war drones are nearly formed up into a geometric swarm, and the invisible tele-pathic weapon is starting to engage. The Imperial vessel is un-
leashing everything it has to try to break up the geometric pattern of the Drakh wardrones (CGI).

N'TOTH
Everyone take cover! G'Kar, come with us
to the destroyer! You must come now!

N'Toth attempts to take G'Kar by the arm to escort him to safety. He breaks free and begins to run. All are struck by the telepathic

INT. TUNNEL/MAIN CHAMBER/SECRET CHAMBER
TUNNEL
G'Kar runs into the main chamber, past Narns crowding in for cover from the blasts, some feeling the effects of the telepathic attack.

MAIN CHAMBER
G'Kar races through the main chamber and into the hidden corridor,
his head wracked with pain.

HIDDEN CHAMBER
G'Kar emerges into the secret chamber, gasping for breath, with the mountain rattling all around him from the Drakh attackers, and rushes to the small glowing stone (about the size of a large pill).
He raises his arms, not knowing what to do.

G'KAR
How?

Instinctively he grabs the glowing stone from its holder and swallows it. Instantly, he begins to glow with brilliant white light, as if seeping out from within, between his scales, eyes and mouth (CGI).

TUNNEL
G'Kar runs with his arms raised defensively in front of him as the
tunnel begins to collapse and huge rocks fall, other Narns lying unconscious or dead, less than seen before as some already have left the tunnel. The mountain RUMBLES with the sound of the Vorlon device becoming activated. The white light protects him and he runs right through all obstacles, obliterating whatever rock material gets in his way until he is outside (CGI).

G'KAR POV on the floating Vorlon orb, on the White Star and Narn fighter landing, and on the disintegrating Centauri vessel, with Drakh wardrone debris falling elsewhere (CGI).

G'Kar peers down to notice his own glow, and a growing number of Narns approaching and prostrating themselves (CGI).

G'Kar concentrates intently, staring directly at the lifepod. The Vorlon orb extends a tentacle and envelopes the lifepod, protecting it from the explosion and gently bringing it to the ground (CGI).

G'KAR
I don't know.

ON CENTAURI LIFEPOD as G'Kar, Delenn, Narns, and Minbari rush to it. The Narns keep a respectful distance from G'Kar, some pros-trating themselves, which he notes. A window on the lifepod reveals an unconscious Londo. G'Kar rips the door off with his bare hands, revealing an injured, blackened Londo in full royal finery. Londo starts to come around, but spits up a little blood. The wounds from the Drakh keeper creature are still visible on his neck.

LONDO POV on the glowing G'Kar and the Vorlon orb in the sky above him, his vision blurry (CGI).

LONDO
Great Maker?. . .G'Kar?

Londo falls unconscious again. G'Kar lets out a booming laugh.

G'KAR
Did you see, Delenn? He thought he
saw his supreme being, and it was me!

DELENN
Yes, and it appears he's not ready
to handle that.

Delenn and G'Kar lean down over Londo as a Minbari doctor crowds in, with onlookers peering over, astonished at what they see.

G'KAR
You are alive Molari. Help is here.

Londo again becomes conscious and slowly opens his eyes as much as he can, Delenn gently stroking his face.

LONDO POV as he sees somewhat blurry images of Delenn, the Minbari doctor, G'Kar, and the crowd.

G'KAR
N'Toth! Have you learned nothing I have
taught you? He saved your life, twice now!
Have you forgotten? This Centauri - the
Centauri emperor himself - risked his life
to save you - to save all of us! You saw
with your own eyes what happened! Let the
truth of what has happened this day never be

original Kari, declare that on this day
Narn and Centauri will never make war again!

The Vorlon orb sends out a brief flare skyward, with sharp CRACKLE, as if to emphasize G'Kar's words (CGI). Minbari attendants arrive with a stretcher and take Londo to the White Star, with all the gathered Narn allowing respectful distance for him to pass. N'Toth, head bowed, appears chagrined.

G'KAR

Babylon Five's on full-alert, and I'm on
my way to C&C to get President Sheridan
and Captain Lochley so we can start the
meeting. Word has spread to the ambassadors,
and they're pushing to move up the council
meeting, they want answers. But this may be
what we need to gain their support. You find
out anything?

GIRABALDI
My people on Narn aren't making any sense.
They say G'Kar became a god and repelled the
attack single-handedly. I don't know what to
make of it.

TESSA
My reports don't read much differently.
We'll find out soon enough. Delenn is
bringing G'Kar here.

GIRABALDI
I've got to check on a couple of things,
then I'll see you in Captain Lochley's office.

Girabaldi departs down another junction, and TESSA continues on toward C&C.
CUT TO

INT. C&C
There is much activity, reflecting the alert status. SHERIDAN pensively stares at the consoles as LOCHLEY approaches. LT. CORWIN
gives Lochley material to review.

LOCHLEY
No other attacks on any other Alliance
worlds have been reported. Just the
attack on Narn.

TESSA enters and joins them.

TESSA
Whatever that was the Narns used against
the Drakh attack, it seems to have scattered
them and stopped all of their activity. Our
field agents have reported a Drakh fleet
departed from the Drazi sector, and another
from Centauri space, but no movement anywhere
else. They've gone quiet.

SHERIDAN
Hmmm, I don't like it. The attack on Narn
makes no sense. They're already so weakened
from past Centauri attacks. Why attack Narn?

LOCHLEY
A test-run for their new weapon?

TESSA
Not much of a test. The Narn defense grid
is quite limited.

SHERIDAN
Or so we thought. Number One, Contact the
first wave of the Alliance expeditionary
force and have them hold position outside
of Vorlon space.

TESSA
Hold position? With the defeat of the new
Drakh weapon, we might not get another
chance like this. They're off balance now,
sir. I think we should move them in now,
turn them into an assault force -

LOCHLEY
I think she's right. A chance like this
may not come again. The Drakh must be
reeling from their loss at Narn.

SHERIDAN
Maybe. (firmly) We have to wait.

Tessa and Lochley look to one another.
DISSOLVE

INT. LOCHLEY'S OFFICE
The mood electric as CAPTAIN LOCHLEY, GIRABALDI, NUMBER ONE, and ZACK ALLEN are seated around a low table in the semi-darkened room, watching an image of wreckage from the destroyed Earthforce des-troyers. Sheridan rises from Lochley's desk, shutting off the BabCom Unit, and joins them at the table. Zack waves his hand over the datacrystal playback unit and a small image of the previously
seen Shadow vessel being destroyed by the Vorlon ship appears (CGI/COMPOSITE).

SHERIDAN
That was Delenn. Whatever technology the
Narns used for defense, we'll see soon enough,
G'Kar is bringing it with him.

LOCHLEY
I can't believe that the First Ones would
allow the Shadows back into our galaxy.

SHERIDAN
They may not have the power to stop them.

SHERIDAN (CONTINUED)
And the Shadows may not be trying to come
back. It could be a nothing more than a diversion.

GIRABALDI
Well the Vorlons sure don't want them back here.

The image from the datacrystal has frozen on the Vorlon ship
destroying the Shadow vessel and now fades away (CGI/COMPOSITE).

GIRABALDI (CONTINUED)
My guess is the Shadows intentionally left
weapons assets behind for the Drakh, and not
just what they had to abandon at the end of
the Shadow War. Those signals could be making
weapons we don't even know about operable.
That's what it looks like to me.

LOCHLEY
It's a little after the fact, don't you think?
The Shadows have left the galaxy. It could be
that the Drakh have their own agenda, and the
Shadow activity is not related.

GIRABALDI
These are aliens who take the long view of
things. The Shadows are behind this, count on it.

LOCHLEY
Just playing the devil's advocate. Because if
they're not related, we risk going to battle
on two, even three fronts, depending on where
Psi-Corps comes down on all this.

SHERIDAN
We thought the Shadow war had ended when they
followed the First Ones out of the galaxy,
beyond the Rim, and quit interfering with the
younger races such as ours, but it's clear
now that their war did not end. Maybe the
Shadows never intended to honor their agree-
ment. I think we know where the Drakh base
is, and the focal point for out attack - what
we've planned so carefully for so long, will
happen there - the Vorlon system.

Sheridan points to a now frozen image of the Dead Zone in Vorlon space (CGI/COMPOSITE).
SHERIDAN (CONTINUED)

has already committed for the second and third

like we're afraid to go forward.

SHERIDAN
It's not fear, Michael. But we need to wait.
I just don't know why.

GIRABALDI
Wait for what? Alliance forces are deployed.
If the Alliance doesn't gain some kind of
tangible victory over the Drakh, and soon,
the Alliance is going to start to come apart.
I don't thing we can expect what happened on
Narn to rally member worlds who are holding
out. We don't have conclusive proof that it
was the Drakh.

TESSA
I agree, Mr. President.

ZACK
And so do I, sir.

SHERIDAN
But we must wait. I won't bring the Excalibur
or the second and third wave ships out of
hyperspace until the time is right.

GIRABALDI
The time is right! The Charon and Praxis
found the Drakh base all right, and paid for
that with their lives. How much more certain
do you need to be?

SHERIDAN
Something is missing, Michael, but I don't
know what.

The others look to one another.

SHERIDAN (CONTINUED)
I know it sounds crazy, but I need you
to trust me. We cannot move our forces yet.
What about internal threats here?

LOCHLEY
As our reports noted, it's been very,
very quiet - unusually quiet.

ZACK
I've been having security turn the station in-
side out for weeks, in anticipation of an attack,

but other than the usual contraband smuggled in
here, and the telepath rogues, nothing out of the ordinary. One of my men went missing at oh-eight-
hundred today, and we're investigating, but no
tangible leads on Drakh influence or sabotage
have turned up yet.

SHERIDAN
Which is part of the reason I'm worried. We
know they're here, or they have agents here.
They're waiting. If the attack on Narn wasn't
their sign to move, then what is?

TESSA
What about Psi-Corps? Do they have the data-
crystal with the phony coordinates?
SHERIDAN
Yes, and it should finally force them to
come down on our side or against us.

GIRABALDI
We're knee-deep in tepes around here.
Have you been through the Zocalo?

ZACK
Telepaths have been gathering on the station
for months. Some have come as refugees,
marooned off Earth when the plague hit, but
most have come like they're on some kind of
pilgrimage. So many rogues that Psi-Corps is
afraid to send any of their people anymore to
try to get them. If a Psi-Cop showed up here,
those rogues would fry their synapses.

SHERIDAN
And they're unwilling to help us this time,
against the Drakh. I don't understand it.

LOCHLEY
They feel they've been used enough. They're
focused solely on their own needs now -
freedom, and a home.

GIRABALDI
At least some of them should feel loyalty
to Earth and help out. The Psi-Corps may
align with the Drakh -

SHERIDAN
I have to believe even Bester wouldn't
sell out Earth.

GIRABALDI
With all due respect, Mr. President, this

is Bester you're talking about. I don't
think that black heart of his can feel
anything anymore. Don't count on him or
the Psi-Corps for anything.

SHERIDAN
Your personal hatred of Bester is noted
Mr. Girabaldi, for the trauma he inflicted
upon you in the past. And if Bester does
turn his back on Earth, you'll get your
chance to kill him for what he did to you.
I'll see to that.

TESSA
My intelligence people tell me he's not
answerable any more to cooler heads back
on Earth, at Psi-Corps H-Q.

SHERIDAN
He did say something interesting at Earth-
station Eleven. He mentioned wanting to know
the coordinates those signals were sent to by
the Shadows, but then said "not for the
reason you might think."

LOCHLEY
What do you think he means?

SHERIDAN
I don't know, but it's puzzling. It's part
of what doesn't fit.

Zack's comlink BREEPS and he answers it.

SECURITY OFFICER (VO)
Chief, we've got some activity in
the Zocalo.

ZACK
Can your people handle it?

SECURITY OFFICER (VO)
I think you should see this, sir.

ZACK
On my way.

Reluctantly, Zack departs.

LOCHLEY
If Alliance forces strike where we think
the Drakh base is and we come up empty,
then what? Nearly all Alliance military
vessels will be several jump-points away
from here - and Babylon Five would seem to
be target number one.
CONTINUED

CONTINUED
SHERIDAN
Agreed. We'll be leaving the station
vulnerable when we form up the remainder
of the assault force, but when the time is
right, we've got to strike with everything
we've got and try to put an end to this war
for once and for all. We can't have Drakh
terrorists undoing all the hard work we've
done to create peace among the races.

GIRABALDI
"End the war." Let's face it, the war is
never over. It's the Drakh now, but it'll be
someone else later. There's always the filthy opportunist, the megalomaniac seeking personal
power, the war profiteer. It's a religious cam-
paign against perceived infidels this time, or
a landgrab at the edge of one species's planetary
system the next. I don't know if "the war" ever
does end.

IVANOVA (OS)
It's been a while since I've been able
to share. . .

IVANOVA steps into view, and into the room, pulling back her cowl to reveal her face.

IVANOVA (CONTINUED)
. . . in your joyful optimism, Mr.
Girabaldi. I'm so glad you could join
us from Mars.

Sheridan, surprised, and the others stand.

SHERIDAN
Susan!

TESSA
I should explain. Since you placed me in
command of Alliance Intelligence, I've
done some - recruiting.

IVANOVA
After taking some time off to sort out my
head, I've been doing some deep cover fieldwork,
on the Alliance payroll. It seems Babylon Five
has a few problems a little closer to home.

Ivanova tosses a sealed bag holding the remains of the Drakh keeper creature on the table.

GIRABALDI
This is deep cover? (touches Ivanova's cloak)

IVANOVA
You gotta do what you gotta do.

TESSA
I've seen one of those before, on Mars.
Dr. Franklin dissected one for us during
the resistance movement, before independence.

SHERIDAN
Drakh.

IVANOVA
It's what's left of what was controlling a
Drazi who tried to plant this near a vent
duct coming from the main reactor. I followed
him to Babylon Five from the Drazi homeworld.
The Drazi it was attached to was a high-
ranking minister traveling with a false
identicard.

Tessa and Lochley look over the bag and disarmed explosive trigger Ivanova now places on the table.

LOCHLEY
That could've done some real damage.

TESSA
That makes sense, using the diplomatic
corps as terrorists draws less suspicion.
Diplomatic immunity buys good access.

SHERIDAN
Is that the only explosive you found?

IVANOVA
Yep, so far.

SHERIDAN
As much damage as that could've caused,
it's still small-time stuff, diversionary.
The station may be in more immediate danger.

CLOSE ON GIRABALDI as Sheridan's last WORDS FADE, and he REACTS to a voice in his head - but coolly controls his face so as to not reveal the message he's getting.

LYTA(VO)
Hello, Michael. The time has come. I
hope you've brought my toys. A deal's a
deal, and it's time for you to make good
on your end of the bargain. Come outside
- I'll make sure you can find me. Oh, I
brought along an old friend you'll be
happy to see.

ON IVANOVA as we fade back into the conversation.

IVANOVA
(to Girabaldi) You look like you've
seen a ghost.

GIRABALDI
Huh. Yeah. Listen, I just remembered
something I gotta do.

IVANOVA
Right now?

GIRABALDI
It can't wait.

Girabaldi stands to exit, stops.

GIRABALDI (CONTINUED)
One thing, something hasn't been right all
along about how the Drakh have waged their
terror campaign. Since I've taken over Edgar's Industries, I've learned a lot about managing
resources - Where, for example do the Drakh
get all of their resources? No one seems to
sell to them directly, and we can hardly track
their illicit buys. I know from my own military production, the hardware they roll out requires
a vast production base. Something is missing.
There have to be far more of them than we think,
or they've got races working for them that we've
never seen. No one ever seems to see the Drakh,
but somebody's selling them their raw materials, providing a manufacturing infrastructure. It
doesn't make sense that they never seem to run
out of weapons.

SHERIDAN
What's your point?

GIRABALDI
I'm just worried that we may be getting lured
into a trap. Maybe you're right to hold off
the attack for now.

Girabaldi lets them ponder the thought for a moment, then departs. Sheridan's comlink BREEPS and he toggles on.

SHERIDAN
Sheridan, go.

C&C (VO)
Mr. President, Centauri Prime is requesting
a Gold Channel communication with you.

SHERIDAN
(to comlink) Centauri Prime? Londo's armada
isn't due for a couple of days. (to Lochley)
We should probably waive them off anyway,
given the situation. Wasn't it Vir Cotto who
wanted to see me?

CONTINUED

TESSA
One of my reports on the Narn homeworld
attack mentioned the Centauri Imperial
vessel as being present, and possibly
destroyed.

SHERIDAN
That makes no sense. Why would Londo
be there? Delenn didn't mention anything.

Sheridan follows Lochley's eyes, which are staring at VIR, looking positively manic, standing in the doorway, Station Security on either side of him, keeping him out.

SHERIDAN (CONTINUED)
(to comlink) C&C, tell Centauri Prime
I will contact the Prime Minister as
soon as I can. (toggles off) Vir, please,
come in.

Sheridan and the others stand as the guards let Vir enter.

VIR
President Sheridan, I have been trying
to see you for over two hours! Londo is in
trouble, and I need your help!

IVANOVA
Trouble?

SHERIDAN
What is it, Vir?

VIR
What I tell you must remain in confidence.
He told me to tell only you, but I'll need
all of your help.

SHERIDAN
Of course.

Tessa, Ivanova, and Lochley nod affirmatively.

VIR
Londo's fleet has been attacked. He's
the only one left alive.

TESSA
The Centauri Imperial vessel travels
with ten ships -

VIR
Thirteen this time. Everyone is dead!
Londo is the only survivor.

LOCHLEY
Everyone dead? How?
CONTINUED

CONTINUED
VIR
I don't know. He's taken the Imperial
vessel - piloting it himself - He's in
danger! He said it was a telepathic attack
- hundreds, maybe thousands of small ships
he said! He thinks it was the Drakh, but the
strange part is, he said "they didn't mean
to attack." He seemed sure of it. And I've
heard the reports from Narn. They can't be
true. Can they?

Sheridan, Ivanova, Tessa, and Lochley REACT.

VIR (CONTINUED)
What?

SHERIDAN
Vir, sit down.

Vir sits.
SHERIDAN (CONTINUED)
Vir, there have been suspicions, and
some evidence, that the Drakh have
gained influence on Centauri Prime -

VIR
(sharply) Yes, I've heard that too. Nothing
has been right on my world since the Shadow
War. (angry) I don't know what's going on!
President Sheridan, all I do know is that
we need to help Londo.

SHERIDAN
I suspect Londo has protected you from
knowing the truth, Vir. Just as the Shadows
gained influence over your world during
the Shadow War, the Alliance believes the
Drakh filled the void once the Shadows left.
We don't know the extent of their influence,
but, frankly, we fear the worst. If Londo did
go to Narn, then clearly he has broken their
control. The Drakh have gained influence over
several Alliance worlds to varying degrees,
but they are masters at hiding themselves.

VIR
But what about Londo?

IVANOVA
Vir, if we don't know where Londo is, what
can we do?

TESSA
I had a report about a large field of
debris drifting off the hyperspace beacon
between rarely used jump-gates about two
hours ago. Two jumps from here.
CONTINUED

CONTINUED
VIR
High-level Centauri delegations often
use less-traveled jump-gates. (Gasps)
The other vessels must've been
destroyed! Why - ?

Sheridan narrows his gaze, another piece of the puzzle found.

IVANOVA
We can investigate the scene of the
attack, that's the best we can do now.

TESSA
If Londo did go to Narn, and the reports
are true, he may be dead. The reports
which identified the Imperial vessel
said it was destroyed.

VIR
He's not dead. I know it. He's alive. His
enemies can't know what has happened. He is
at risk now - I am at risk now! The Royal
Court will figure out soon enough what has
really happened, and heads will roll! I need
you to maintain the facade that everything is
all right, just for a while - to buy me some
time. Tell the Prime Minister you know of
nothing unusual. Please. If the Drakh are in-
fluencing the Palace, I can't trust anyone there.

SHERIDAN
If he's alive and can be found, the Alliance
will provide for his safety, and yours. If need
be, Londo will be given safe-haven here or on
Minbar. We'll do all we can, Vir.

VIR
It can't get any worse.

Vir gets up and starts to leave, tossing off a distracted. . .

VIR (CONTINUED)
Thank you.

Vir exits.

The wall-mounted BabCom system sounds, Lochley toggles her comlink.

IVANOVA
I'll go see what's going on in the Zocalo.

Lochley and Tessa depart, Ivanova and Sheridan briefly hold hands before she departs, then Sheridan walks over to the wall-mounted BabCom monitor where he pushes an on-screen button and DELENN pops up on-screen.

CLOSE ON SHERIDAN as he and Delenn look at each other for a moment and each touches the screen with an open hand.

SHERIDAN
How soon till you get here?

DELENN
We're coming through the jump-gate in
a few minutes. John, Londo is with us.
I didn't think it safe to tell you before.

SHERIDAN
Londo is with you? Is he - ?

DELENN
I think he'll be all right. The Drakh did
something to him. I don't know if it can
be undone.

SHERIDAN
One of those creatures?

Delenn nods yes.

SHERIDAN (CONTINUED)
As we suspected. Has it started to
grow back?

DELENN
Not yet. He saved the Narns, John. It was
a beautiful, selfless act of heroism.
(wipes a tear) I can hardly believe I
witnessed it.

SHERIDAN
Londo's alive. That will relieve Vir. We're
going to need many more acts of heroism before
this is over.

DELENN
I know. What's wrong? I can see it in your face.

SHERIDAN
Mr. Girabaldi has given us something troubling
to think about. The Drakh may have more re-
sources than we estimated. And the loss of
their new weapon at Narn - they're certain to
change their strategy now. Do we go ahead as

missing - not letting me see the proper course
of action to take.

DELENN
(a beat) There is something else, something
has happened to G'Kar, and what he's brought
will help us.

SHERIDAN
We'll take all the help we can get. I have
something else too. I've seen images of Kosh
in my mind. He's spoken to me, twice now.

DELENN
Kosh?

SHERIDAN
At Earth-Station Eleven he told me to speak
his name and it let me get away from Bester -

DELENN
Bester!

SHERIDAN
And here on the station, I saw an image of
Kosh in docking bay thirteen. He said, "When
the three forces of light appear, speak my name."

Delenn ponders this.

DELENN
It's good to see you.

Sheridan stiffens at seeing Lennier, who avoids Sheridan's gaze and who's whole body seems to bear the weight of his guilt.

INT. MEDLAB ONE
DR. FRANKLIN, now wearing a medical robe, is looking over LONDO, who lies prone on a medical table, attendants busily cutting away his clothing and administering tests. VIR stands by anxiously.
Londo keeps his eyes closed from the glare of the lights.

DR. FRANKLIN
There doesn't seem to be any re-growth
from the Drakh creature out of your own
neural tissues.

LONDO
This is good, yes?

DR. FRANKLIN
There is still alien neural tissue in your
body, fused with your own, but it seems
dormant. From what we know of these
creatures, it should've started to re-
grow immediately. Something is keeping
it from rejuvenating.

Using medical implements, Dr. Franklin removes some of the alien neural tissue from a wound near Londo's neck, and places it in a sterile beaker. Londo opens his eyes, adjusting them to the light.

LONDO
So I am not free from that monster
after all?

DR. FRANKLIN
That's not what I'm saying. It's dormant,
and may stay that way. And it may not. I
just don't know.

LONDO
Doctor, I do not wish to live another
day with that thing inside of me. Cut it
out, all of it!

DR. FRANKLIN
Londo, it's attached to numerous places
throughout your entire nervous system.
To remove it would be to kill you.

Attendants cover Londo's body with a sheet. A Centauri attendant brings Vir a stack of Londo's old clothes. Through the glass can be seen several station security personnel standing guard. VIR dis-misses the Centauri attendant.

LONDO
Perhaps that is best.

VIR
Londo! What are you saying?

A medical staffer outfits Londo with a thick robe as he sits up.

LONDO
I don't wish to go on living as a slave
to the Drakh any longer. After what has
happened, they will wish me dead anyway.
Vir, you must do everything you can to
erase the Drakh presence on our world!
They put explosives in major population
centers, threatened to destroy millions
upon millions of Centauri to exact our -
my - cooperation. I gave in to their de-
mands, Vir! It was the Drakh who tricked
the Alliance into attacking Centauri Prime.
The Regent was not to blame. It was the
Drakh who caused our world to burn!

Londo grabs Vir, standing close, by the lapel, pulling him close.
Dr. Franklin motions for the other medlab personnel to leave.

The Imperial armada was laden with weapons
of mass destruction. I found this out after
we were attacked and the Drakh (spitting out
the words) - my personal puppetmaster - was
killed. I destroyed our other ships. I
believe they planned to use our ships and
those weapons to destroy Babylon Five. The
state visit was merely a pretext to get close.

VIR
Which means they meant to kill you, to
kill all of us.

LONDO
Perhaps. They may have intended to remove
me safely first. I had been useful to them.

VIR
Which would mean they have agents here.

LONDO
They have agents everywhere.

Dr. Franklin is disturbed by this idea and looks out the glass to the security and medical personnel at work.

LONDO
Lyta? Lyta Alexander?

LYTA
Hello, Londo. Vir. (to Dr. Franklin)
Don't get too involved here. We'll
be leaving before too long.

Lyta senses something about Londo and stands near him, looking him up and down, creating a little fear in him and the others.

LYTA (CONTINUED)
They put one of those things on you,
disgusting parasites.

Lyta's eyes flare white as she focuses her gaze on Londo, he flinches flat on his back from the pain (CGI).

LONDO
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Lyta's eyes return to normal and Londo's pain passes.

LYTA
I'm sorry about that. There's no way
to make it not hurt. It won't grow
back now. (to Dr. Franklin) Be ready
when I call for you.

Lyta departs, leaving the others agape. CROSSFADE

Lyta forthrightly makes her way through the semi-darkness, until
she reaches an almost completely dark dead-end.

NEW ANGLE as LYTA stands in silhouette, with what little light there is behind her, illuminating her figure.

LYTA
Show yourselves.

RUSTLING NOISES can be heard. Lyta's eyes flare white for an instant against the darkness, as if a challenge (CGI).

NEW ANGLE as a lone DRAKH steps forward, out of the darkness. He
opens his cowl and pulls off several scale-like, palm-size buds from his grey body. The scales sprout legs and aggressively make
their way toward Lyta. As each creature gets to about two feet from her, they are zapped by an invisible forcefield which flares white
briefly as it kills all of the creatures that touch it (CGI).

last vestiges of the Vorlons will be

The Vorlons have out-thought your masters,

you. Those now outside the station, and
those inside of me.

Lyta's eyes flare white, and streams of white light emanate from her eyes and mouth as she raises here arms, her hands also glowing as white orbs. The tendrils of white light surround and envelope

VIR
The Royal Palace is in a state of frenzy
over your disappearance. News of what
happened on Narn is spreading throughout
the galaxy. Nobody on Centauri Prime
believes it, of course. House Anterres
sent vessels which found what was left of
the Imperial fleet - They're saying it was
a Narn attack.

LONDO
Narn attack! They don't have any ships
anymore capable of such an attack!
Anterres is an ambitious house, but a
stupid one. What did you tell the Palace?

VIR
I've told everyone the same story, that
you're missing. But it won't be long before
they know you're here. The one who brought
the clothes is my most trusted aide. He won't
say anything. A Centauri military fleet is
on its way here now.

LONDO
Yes, and I can imagine what accompanies
them. But, I won't be staying. They may be
coming for your head. You will need to
protect yourself. I made it a condition of
my cooperation that the Drakh not harm you.
The Drakh wanted to kill you. They thought
you weak. But it is your kindness of heart,
and quite frankly your naivete, which has
saved you up to now. Your goodness gave me
hope, hope for a better future for our people.
It was foretold that you would rule after me,
and I do not want you corrupted by the Drakh.
I must now ask you to do some terrible things.
I will tell you the names of all the Drakh
collaborators I know of, and I need you to
have them all killed. I am not in a position
right now to take care of it.

VIR
What are you talking about? I don't
have those kind of resources.

LONDO
I do. Come closer.

Londo whispers in Vir's ear.

Sheridan and Delenn break off their private talk at the desk.
LONDO
Well, President Sheridan, will you allow
me to join your campaign against the Drakh
or not? Your forces are ready to move, yes?

SHERIDAN
Londo, emperor Molari, we know the Drakh
have gained influence on your world -

DELENN
And I saw that creature around your neck
once when you came to visit us on Minbar -

LONDO
It's called a "keeper." Quaint little name
for such a monster, don't you think? Lyta
Alexander was kind enough to burn the rest
of it out of me, but I suppose you heard
that already.

SHERIDAN
What we're trying to say is that we under-
stand that your first priority must be to
your people, and if the Drakh still hold
sway over your world, you would do better
not to associate -

DELENN
Our campaign against the Drakh may not
be successful -

LONDO
Oh, why don't you just say it, you don't
trust me. Even after what I did on Narn.

SHERIDAN
What you did on Narn was truly heroic.
We're just afraid that you will do yourself
and your people more harm than good if you
join us in the fight. Eventually you will
have to return to Centauri Prime, and if the
Drakh cannot be rooted out there -

LONDO
Yes, what then becomes of Londo? I am willing
to take that risk. The life I have under
their control is no life at all. I accept my
fate. The Drakh must be cleansed from my world.
Please, let me fight.

SHERIDAN
If you join us, we can't ensure your safety.

SHERIDAN
That depends on the Council. Then there's
the matter of Lyta Alexander's demand to
address the Alliance.

LONDO
No, it doesn't seem to be a good idea to
turn down a person with her powers, and her
followers. She did, after all, do a great
deal for the Alliance in the Shadow War.

Londo stands, a little woozy. Delenn comes over.

DELENN
Are you all right?

LONDO
I am fine. Where is G'Kar? I think I would
like to see him now. I was unconscious on
our trip from Narn.

DELENN
He's on the observation deck.

SHERIDAN
There is an armed escort waiting outside
to keep you protected, they'll take you.

Vir hands Londo a cloak, which he refuses.

LONDO
No, Vir. No more hiding. Let them see me.
Thank you, President Sheridan, Delenn,
Vir, for everything.

Londo and Vir exit as IVANOVA, GIRABALDI and TESSA enter.

What makes a Vorlon, makes that. But
only a Narn telepath should've been able
to control it, and, well, there aren't

G'KAR
I swallowed this. I can only guess that
either it read my thoughts through my
tissues or since I did the narcotic "dust"
once and had a limited telepathic response
the drug induces that somehow it could hear
my thoughts. I coughed up this control
mechanism just minutes ago. I was -

LYTA
Glowing. What are you going to do with it?

G'KAR
In a more innocent time, yesterday as a
matter-of-fact, I intended that it be used
as an energy source to help rebuild my world.
But, in light of the attack by the Drakh, it
seems I have no choice but to use it as a
weapon. "An end in fire, or a beginning in
light" it said. It seems it is to be an end
in fire.

Lyta moves close to the window.

LYTA
I can hear its song. Would you like to hear?

Lyta stretches out here hand and G'Kar comes over and takes her hand, now able to hear what she hears and astonished by it.

G'Kar shows Londo the glowing stone, then CLOSE TWO SHOT as we see their two faces, with a gentle tear rolling down G'Kar's face as they both look at what is outside.

G'KAR
Millions of my people died because of
you, Molari. Yet, today you saved my world.
It is simply too much to comprehend.

LONDO
Yes. I no longer try to make sense of my
own life. The fates seem to enjoy tossing
me about in the perpetual whirlwind, and all
I can do is try to keep my balance.

G'Kar abruptly turns to face Londo, grabbing him by his shoulders.

G'KAR
That's where you're wrong, Molari! You are
responsible for every one of your actions.
The lives you saved today do not make up for
the lives you took in the past! But you did
the right thing today. Your actions have opened
the way for a new beginning for our peoples. It
is so clear to me now. After so much war, the
time has come for us to lift the veil of darkness
which has enveloped the Narn and Centauri for so
long. Narn children, Centauri children deserve
better than to be indoctrinated into our cycle
of hate. On this day, I pledge myself to you.
So long as you live, I will protect you. I will
become your personal warrior. I will provide you
Narn soldiers to find and kill the Drakh which
have taken over your world.

LONDO
I had hoped to restore Centauri glory. And
instead I set our people back decades. You're
right, the children, Centauri and Narn, deserve
better than what we have created - a conflict
without end. I will tell Vir of your offer of
soldiers. He will be handling the problem of
the Drakh on Centauri Prime. Thank you, G'Kar.

TECHNOMAGE
At that moment you were struggling. What to
do? The right thing, the noble thing, or to
cave into your weakness and do what you've
always done - put your own survival first. You
have always worn power carelessly, Molari,
harming the innocent who through no fault of

SHERIDAN

LYTA abruptly enters just as everyone gets settled in, and stands in front of the dais to address the assembly.

LYTA
The Drakh threat to your people, to your
worlds, to this galaxy, is greater than
you could have imagined. Some of you cooperate
with the Drakh already, being too weak or fear-
ful to fight them. The Vorlon device unearthed
at Narn and now outside this station, destroyed
their newest weapon, a weapon which used en-
slaved telepaths' amplified mental powers to
kill. Discovery of the Vorlon device on Narn
was an unexpected development. The Drakh did not
foresee it, and, frankly, neither did I. Emperor
Molari foiled the Drakh's plans to destroy Babylon
Five using the pretext of an Imperial visit to get Centauri vessels laden with explosives close
enough to destroy this station and kill everyone
on it. Events have turned in our favor. The Vorlon
device will help in the fight to come. Telepaths,

forces of light and the forces of darkness, and
every one of your races, to be used as weapons,
will be the ones who finally put a stop to the
Shadow Wars. We will be used no more. But we
will lead you to their base. We will show you
the weaknesses in their defenses. We will help
you prevent the return of the Shadows -

The room erupts at the last statement.

G'KAR
Return of the Shadows!?

LYTA
They intended to return all along! Go to
this place! -

Lyta sends a telepathic image to the minds of everyone present, her eyes flaring white for an instant, which quiets the uproar. She waves her arm and an image appears of the Vorlon planetary system,
which quickly moves in to a moon surrounded by a grid-like struc-ture, then fades (CGI/COMPOSITE).

LYTA (CONTINUED)
The Drakh have bred and made slaves of us!
Telepath slaves have built the Shadow and
Drakh forces arrayed against you. In return
for our help the Alliance will help my forces
free these slaves. My people will be waiting
for you there. In addition, we demand the
freedom of all telepaths from every race. Any
telepath born to any of your people must be
free from genetic manipulation, free from
indentured servitude, free to leave and join
us on the new telepath homeworld. Make your
decision quickly. Agree to our terms we will
not only help you keep the Shadows from re-
turning, but we will help you find and destroy
the Drakh where they hide. And we will provide
the cure to the Drakh plague affecting Earth,
and which is a threat to other Alliance worlds.
If you do not agree, we will clear the Drakh
from our new home in Vorlon space - but you
will be on your own against the Drakh in the
rest of the galaxy. When your forces join ours,
I will know your answer, and we will respond
accordingly. Your self-interest now coincides
with the best interests of telepaths. Now is
not the time for debate, but for action.

vulnerable now! Some Alliance worlds are
already compromised!

PAK MARAH AMBASSADOR
The risk is too great. Not all of us

BRUKURI AMBASSADOR
This has been a Minbari-led plan from
the start! With Earth weakened and possibly
doomed, and the Narn and Centauri all but
bankrupt -

G'KAR
You would let fear be your guide! Do not
shrink from the task which is before us!
We know the enemy! We now know where the
enemy is. She showed it to all of us, and
each of us know it is not a lie, there is
no trick. There is merely the task at hand.
We must risk everything so that we might
survive. If the Shadows do return, we could
all be wiped out. There are not the Vorlons
to help us this time. And if we do not con-
front the Drakh, they will. . . .

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
surely suck the life out of our worlds one
by one as they enslave us. Lyta and the tele-
paths are about to risk all of their lives so
they might at last be free. Can we do any less!?
Are we free if we are manipulated by outsiders
on our own worlds? Are we free if we are para-
lyzed by fear? Are we free if we cannot break
out of the endless cycle of violence? This
alliance was born to promote cooperation and
the pursuit of mutual interest. What could be
more in our mutual interest than our very sur-
vival? None of us alone can defeat the Drakh,
let alone the Shadows, but together, by uniting
our forces we have a fighting chance! It is not
just a question of strategy and tactics, and
weighing military assets, but of honor! Do we
have pride? Do we as a body have honor? What do
we stand for? Will we fight for freedom!?

G'Kar and Delenn exchange a knowing glance.

G'KAR (CONTINUED)
It is our notion of civilization which compels
us to work together toward common goals which
ensure our survival and prosperity through
mutual effort. The dark forces of totalitar-
ianism and fascist rule arise again and again,
but we can - together - quash it in our time.
We know what we must do. Most of you committed
ships to the second wave of an expeditionary
force to find the Drakh, but you must now agree
to turn this force into an assault force! And
the ships you are holding in reserve must be
made available to the Alliance. We have an able
and proven leader (motions to Sheridan) - it was
Sheridan who defeated the Shadows in the Shadow
War. And if two centuries-old enemies can stand
together, you can stand with us.

Londo rises and joins G'Kar, joining hands as they raise them up.

INT. C&C
Sheridan, Delenn and Girabaldi prepare to leave.

SHERIDAN
Keep her safe.

LOCHLEY
Same goes for the two of you. Your
shuttle is ready to take you to the
Excalibur. G'Kar and Londo are wait-
ing for you at the docking bay.

DELENN
Are you really going to let Londo
pilot his own ship?

SHERIDAN
It's what he wants. Vir kept a Centauri
fighter hidden not far from the station
for emergencies. (to Lochley and Number One)
The fleet will be in constant contact with
our progress. We'll join the third wave
ships in hyperspace at the rendezvous point.
If an attack does come here, or things
should go badly -

LOCHLEY
I know, attempt to contact Draal on Epsilon
Three below for help. Will do. Good luck.
Primary power is routed to the defense
grid, and all remaining fighters are deployed.

TESSA
We'll be all right. Good luck.

INT. LYTA'S VESSEL
Lyta is crouched, dabbing BESTER'S injured head with a cloth. Dr. Franklin is administering to him, which Bester reluctantly allows.

BESTER (CONTINUED)
Thank you for rescuing me, Lyta.

LYTA
You're lucky to be alive. You told them no.

BESTER
Lyta, their plans are darker than any of
us could have imagined. I have seen -

LYTA
You have seen what I alone have seen and
carried with me for so long! Now you know
the horror of what I know.

BESTER
They must be stopped, Lyta! How could this
have happened? That feeling all telepaths
have that there are more like us somewhere
- that music we hear like waves crashing on
a distant shore. How could it be so terrible,
Lyta?

DR. FRANKLIN
What did you see?

Lyta stands back, her eyes glowing white, with small streams of white light swirling about her briefly as she speaks (CGI).

LYTA (In Vorlon voice/VO)
Life is the most precious thing. The dark
forces use life as a tool to achieve power
and control. They do not respect life. . .

LENNIER
The Alliance ships are arriving.

The viewscreen which shows a multitude of jump-points forming in the distance, with the variety of human and alien ships emerging (CGI/COMPOSITE).
LYTA
That's the first wave coming out of
hyperspace. Tell them they'll have Drakh
defensive forces all they way into the
Vorlon system.

LENNIER
Affirmative.

LYTA
Where is the Psi-Corps mothership?

BESTER
I kept them safe in hyperspace, one jump
from here until I could find out exactly
what the Drakh plans really are. They intended
to kill us all, once they'd finished using us.
(a beat) Our forces are at your disposal.

DR. FRANKLIN
Just like that, you're going to help?

BESTER
You'll understand why soon enough.

Lyta is satisfied, Bester goes to the console and sends the signal. Lyta looks up, sensing something.

GIRABALDI POV as he sees first Lyta, Lennier, Dr. Franklin, then Bester, to whom he REACTS with horror.

BESTER
Hello, Mr. Girabaldi. Don't worry, I
won't harm you. There is not the time
just now, and this really isn't the place
to settle our differences, so she won't
allow you to harm me either.

SHERIDAN appears on the viewscreen.

SHERIDAN
The defensive forces were lighter here
than you predicted, Lyta.

LYTA
Which means we'll face even more near
the Vorlon system. We need to follow the
first wave in, now.

Lyta's eyes flare white momentarily (CGI).

LYTA (CONTINUED)

EXCALIBUR NAVIGATOR
This region of space is unstable, sir.
Gravity in this microgalaxy is not like
it is in the rest of the Milky Way. Com-
pensating as much as we can.

The Excalibur stabilizes a bit.

SHERIDAN
I had heard that about Vorlon space. The
physical laws don't operate exactly as
they do in normal space.

DELENN
If what Lyta told us is true, the Shadows
will attempt to return through an ancient
jump-gate beyond the Vorlon homeworld.

SHERIDAN
We have to destroy their ships as they
come out. It's not enough to destroy
the jump-gate. We need to keep them from
ever coming back.

The turbulence picks up a bit.

EXCALIBUR NAVIGATOR
It opens up ahead, sir, just where her
coordinates said.

defeat the Shadows and the Drakh?

Bester, Girabaldi, Lennier, and Dr. Franklin nervously watch as Lyta awaits the answer she will receive mentally.

ON LYTA, satisfied.
LYTA (CONTINUED)
Your choice is wise. When the Shadow vessels
come through the jump-gate, we will disrupt
the operation of their vessels. You are to
disable, but not destroy them where possible.
Repeat, disable, but do not destroy. We intend
to recover as many of the telepaths enslaved
on those vessels as possible.

DR. FRANKLIN
Recover? There is no way to remove the Shadow
implants and save them. We've tried.

GIRABALDI
Where would you take them?

LENNIER
As yet you are without a home yourselves.

BESTER
You will understand soon enough, as I
understand now.

LYTA
There.

Lyta points to a planet emerging from the glowing green cloud, with one large moon orbiting the gas-giant planet (CGI).

EXT. SPACE / ABOVE VORLON HOMEWORLD
Lyta's vessel screams past, ejecting the lifepod (CGI).

CLOSE ON LYTA, peering out the glass of the lifepod, the reflection of the Vorlon homeworld visible in the glass (CGI/COMPOSITE).

LYTA POV as she looks back at the battles raging all around her in different locations, soul-hunter vessels gathering the dead. Lyta then turns to look at the Vorlon home-world. She concentrates, and her eyes blaze intense white (CGI).

ANGLE ON Vorlon homeworld as a LARGE GLOWING ORB, larger by ten times then G'kar's, emerges from the clouds of the planet and flies into space, past LYTA in the lifepod (CGI).

LYTA begins to glow white all over and soon her lifepod is an intense glowing ball of white light, which speeds in the direction of the larger Vorlon orb, to an area equidistant between the jump-gate and the Shadows and the Drakh base on the Vorlon moon (CGI).

INT. CENTAURI FIGHTER
G'Kar is overcome with a confused look and suddenly coughs up the glowing stone, his body fading quickly back to normal from its previous glow (CGI). On the viewer, the Vorlon orb moves away from them, Londo and G'Kar are dumbfounded (CGI/COMPOSITE).

LONDO
Where is it going?

G'KAR
I don't know. It's as if it was ripped
away from me.

LONDO
Ah-hah! (Laughs) Well done, G'Kar!

G'KAR
Some pretty fancy flying, Emperor.

INT. WHITE STAR 100
There is near panic on the command deck as every person works to maximum, with the viewer revealing that they are in position near the jump-gate trying to shore up the Alliance line against the Shadows. The three orbs of light flash much brighter and a solid beam of light fills the space between them and out of each end of the outer orbs extends a beam of blistering white light, one of which penet-rates the jump-gate, obliterating any and all Shadow vessels in its path, and out of the opposite orb many tendrils extend to destroy Drakh and Shadow vessels and the grid of war drones surrounding the moon (CGI).

EXT. VORLON SPACE
The fighting has stopped, all is eerily quiet, as the surviving Alliance vessels regroup, with debris from damaged and destroyed
Alliance, Shadow, and Drakh craft drifting all over - soul-hunters

White Star 100 lands, as the others disembark from Lyta's vessel in a clearing with green vegetation surrounded by plain, sterile buildings. EXT. VORLON MOON / PLAIN
We join SHERIDAN, DELENN, GIRABALDI, IVANOVA, G'KAR, LONDO, DR. FRANKLIN as they approach the burned-looking lifepod Lyta had used as it lays nestled in a misty field of moss-like plants. The life-pod is empty, and the mood is somber. BESTER stands next to the lifepod, and other telepaths can be seen nearby.

NEW ANGLE as LYTA steps out of the mist in the BG, her eyes dimly glowing white, so her irises and pupils can still be seen (CGI). She walks toward the group.

LYTA
Thank you for your help. Telepaths have
a chance to live freely now. The Shadows
are defeated for the last time, and the
Drakh are now without the resources to cause
serious trouble for some time to come.

Lyta looks to Dr. Franklin and sends him a telepathic message.

ON SHERIDAN as Lyta approaches him, her eyes glowing with greater intensity (CGI).

LYTA / KOSH (VO)
It is time for all who are Kosh to return
to the crucible of our beginnings, so that
life for us may start anew.

Lyta raises up her arms, and Sheridan seems gripped in a trance, then a gossamer-like figure of white light emerges from Sheridan's body and floats in the air as Lyta begins to glow white and float in the air, while merging with the figure which came from Sheridan until Lyta disappears and only a figure of light, the true Vorlon, can be seen (CGI).

G'KAR POV as he sees Narn features on what he sees as his supreme being.

DR. FRANKLIN POV as he sees human features on the light figure.

DELENN POV as she sees Minbari features.

ON DELENN as she stares reverentially.

IVANOVA POV, as she quietly says a prayer, while looking upon the true Vorlon, which she sees with human features.

GIRABALDI notices that a great many telepaths have streamed to their location and look upon what was once Lyta, and is now this
floating creature of light (CGI).

GIRABALDI POV on the Vorlon as he seems hardly able to look upon it, and keeps averting his gaze, skeptical to the last.

BESTER POV as he lifts his head to follow the Vorlon's slow ascent.
ON BESTER as he closes his eyes as if to see with his mind, then opens his eyes again, seeming at peace.

Having wanted to since Lyta's telepathic message, but enraptured by what he had seen, Dr. Franklin now runs as fast as he can toward a cluster of buildings.

ON LONDO who is crying, G'Kar helps him up.

G'KAR
Let me help you to your feet, Molari.

LONDO
The Great Maker. I have seen his face
with my own eyes, G'Kar.

G'KAR
We all saw it, Molari. This time you
did too.

LONDO
What do you mean this time!?

G'Kar looks to Delenn and Sheridan.

G'KAR
Once on Babylon Five the Vorlon revealed
himself, Sheridan and Delenn saw it. I
saw it. You were there too.

LONDO
Yes, I was there, and I saw nothing.

G'KAR
Perhaps, until today, you were not
ready to see.

The telepaths which had gathered head away from the field, with the able telepaths attending to the genetically limited and Shadow-implanted telepaths.

ON GIRABALDI as there is a tense moment between he and Bester.
Sheridan steps over.

SHERIDAN
What are your plans now, Bester?

BESTER
I spent my whole life believing that Psi-
Corps was the only home I would ever know.
Psi-Corps is mother, Psi-Corps is father,
I was taught, and I taught others. I really
believed with all my heart that our way was
best, that Psi-Corps' structured behaviors

and environments were the best life for
human telepaths. I see now that I was wrong.
You could say I've seen the light.
(smiles at Girabaldi). Have you seen the
light, Mr. Girabaldi? The blocks I placed on
you to keep you from harming me are gone for
good. Lyta kept her word to you. If you wish to
have your revenge upon me, I can't stop you. I
just wish you could understand that I used you
against your will while you were chief of
security on Babylon Five because you were in a
unique position to uncover a plot to commit
genocide against all telepaths. The late Mr.
William Edgars, who's industries you now run
with your wife, meant to kill us all - all
telepaths - with his virus. Would you have done
any less to save your people?

Girabaldi pensively ponders this as Bester removes his black Psi-Corps gloves and drops them.

BESTER (CONTINUED)
I'm afraid I cannot undo the sense of
violation you feel for what I did inside
your mind - what I made you do. I am going
to remain here and help out, learn what it
is like to live among only my own kind, what
freedom really is. The best I can do is offer
you my apology, and hope that in the spirit of
the moment you will accept it.

Bester reaches out his ungloved hand. Girabaldi agonizes, but reluctantly shakes Bester's hand.

BESTER (CONTINUED)
Good then. If we should meet at some future
date, I hope it is under much better circumstances
than it has been in the past.

Girabaldi grumbles an affirmative nod.

BESTER (CONTINUED)
Mr. President, let me pledge to you my full
cooperation in making those members of Psi-
Corps back on Earth come to understand new
developments. It may mean at some point I'll
have to travel back to Earth.

SHERIDAN
What exactly will you tell them?

BESTER
Among telepaths understanding comes very
quickly, and often on many different levels simultaneously. We think faster, and in a

more complex way than mun-, er, normals do.
Let me put it this way, they will see what
we have seen, and come to know what we now
know. The Psi-Corps will essentially cease
to exist after that. We have found a more
profound truth, and it will forever change
how we live our lives. So long as it does not
threaten telepaths, I will give you and the
Alliance my cooperation in future endeavors.

SHERIDAN
Well, Mr. Bester, I do hope this is a new
beginning. I cannot forget past wrongs, but
will do my part so long as you do yours.

BESTER
One more thing, Mr. President. I respectfully
request that my lover, still frozen in a cryo-
genic tube on Babylon Five, be released to my
custody so that I can bring her here. If what
the Shadows did to her can be undone, it can be
undone here.

SHERIDAN
Fair enough. I'll arrange it with Captain
Lochley. After your help today, it seems the
least we can do.

BESTER
Thank you.

Bester walks off to join other telepaths in the BG. In the near distance G'Kar and Londo are talking to each other.

EXT. VORLON MOON / MEADOW
ANGLE ON DELENN, wistful. Sheridan takes her hand.

SHERIDAN
Thinking of Lennier?

DELENN
Yes. I wish he could have seen.

Ivanova walks over.
IVANOVA
The Damocles has departed. General Franklin
seemed pretty excited to see Stephen. They're
taking the antidote directly to Earth on one
of the Minbari heavy cruisers.

DELENN
That is good. The Minbari ship has more
advanced medical facilities and should be
able to process the data and begin creation
of an actual antidote much more quickly.

IVANOVA (CONTINUED)
But, I guess they're staying. Can I
give the okay?

Sheridan nods yes, then he and Delenn walk arm in arm in the field, away from the others.

DELENN
The Shadows destroyed. The Drakh beaten.
The Vorlons gone now from our time, maybe
never to return. The telepath war we all
thought inevitable, averted. We have now
the chance to build a lasting peace in the
galaxy, John.

Sheridan and Delenn embrace, standing in silhouette against the glow of the green gas-giant Vorlon homeworld filling the moon's sky (CGI/COMPOSITE).

EXT. VORLON MOON
ON DAOLON VESSEL as a doorway forms in its smooth exterior, which opens to reveal first one, then two more Daolons descending a ramp,
the Daolons looking very similar to the Vorlons (in their encounter suits) (CGI).

Sheridan, Delenn, Girabaldi, Ivanova, Bester, and a few telepaths
crowd around to see. The FIRST DAOLON speaks, his body more greenish and fleshy than the Vorlon encounter suits, and the
stature a bit shorter. His mouth is a light as with the Vorlon
encounter suit, but a different color and more organic-looking.
In the near distance, a storm is rolling in, with flashes of lightning visible (CGI).

FIRST DAOLON

FIRST DAOLON (CONTINUED)
We live on the eighth planet. We are a
people of peace, and do not make war. We
will allow the telepaths to stay here on
this moon of the Vorlon home-world. It was
their wish. The Vorlons created telepaths,
and felt kinship with them.

A flash of lightning from the storm CRACKLES nearby, with the lightning almost appearing for an instant as a living being, which
many in the crowd notice (CGI).

FIRST DAOLON (CONTINUED)
We are the protectors of Vorlon space
and its worlds. No others are to return
to this place when you go, without our
permission. To that end, it has been de-
cided that we must establish diplomatic
relations with the Alliance. Thus, I shall
join you on the return journey.

SHERIDAN
What should we call you?

FIRST DAOLON
You may call me Kosh.

Just then a lightning flash CRACKLES, making the distinctive SOUND all recognize as sounding like "KOSH" - with a bit of a trailing HISS at its end. Again a figure of a living being can be clearly seen in the lightning (CGI).

FIRST DAOLON (CONTINUED)
All of this is alive (motions above
and about him). We have taken physical
form. You can see the form life takes
on this moon -

A slightly more distant CRACKLE/"KOSH" set of lightning strikes reveals several light creatures (CGI).

first results on the cloning of Magnolia

IVANOVA
Ugh. Do you have to bring back the spiders?
I hate spiders. I'm planning a trip to Earth
next year, and with my luck one of those will
be under my bed.

SHERIDAN
Well, I'm glad to hear it is going so well,
Stephen. The Minbari help with the antidote
and their contribution of resources in the
spraying is doing a lot to heal the old wounds
of division among our peoples. I'm very happy
about that.

DR. FRANKLIN

The BabCom screen goes dark as they sign-off. Lochley's comlink BREEPS, she answers it.

LOCHLEY
Lochley, go.

LT. CORWIN (VO)
I think you should come down here, Captain.
The Brukuri and the Drazi are accusing each
other of jumping the line for the docking
bays, and with the backlog, it's getting
pretty ugly out there. And there are freelance
shippers coming through the jump-gate which
aren't even listed on the logs.

LOCHLEY
On my way.

Lochley toggles off.

SHERIDAN
Seems like old times.

LOCHLEY
We may be able to manage peace in the galaxy,
but the day we manage it around this place,
I'll know I'm ready for the retirement home.

Everybody shares a laugh as Lochley departs.

LONDO
Things are better. Upon my return I intend

Delenn hugs G'Kar.

DELENN

DELENN

don't (winks). Come now, Vir, G'Kar.

Delenn gives Londo a hug, and a kiss on the cheek.

DELENN
There was a time once when I thought I
would never be able to do that again,
or want to.

LONDO
I remember.

DELENN
You have learned to follow the path of your
heart - hearts. Stay on the path.

LONDO
I will try, Delenn.

Londo turns to go, Vir leading G'Kar onto the Centauri shuttle in the BG. Londo turns back.

LONDO (CONTINUED)
Well, it's time to go. I have to find a

We finally got all that backed up traffic
through here. I nearly had the dockworkers
walk off the job it was getting so bad.
What have you got?

TESSA
I just wanted to give you the run-down.

LOCHLEY
It's kind of strange to have all the
telepath rogues gone. I'd almost gotten
used to them being here. Peaceful, kept
to themselves.

TESSA
Maybe they've got a chance to start a
better life now. As a free people.

LOCHLEY
No more Bester and Psi-Corps to chase
them down.

TESSA
(reading) Mr. Girabaldi has arrived safely
back on Mars, Captain Ivanova has left for
the Drazi homeworld -

LOCHLEY
Drazi homeworld?

TESSA
My agents are reporting the Drakh presence
there is harder to root out than on Centauri
Prime, so she volunteered to join the Rangers
in finding the cels that remain. G'Kar
returned to a hero's welcome on Narn, where
they've restored full power to their southern
hemisphere. Londo and Vir are back on Centauri
Prime, and they're making excellent progress
in finding the Drakh presence there. President
Sheridan and Delenn are spending the night
here, with their return to Minbar scheduled
for oh-nine-hundred tomorrow morning.

LOCHLEY
I'd better get some sleep then. With the
Shadows gone, and the Drakh in retreat, at
least I can count on one night without
monsters under the bed. Good night.

TESSA
Good night, Captain.

Lochley departs, with Tessa reviewing a console briefly, then she departs.
CUT TO

INT. DIPLOMATIC GUEST QUARTERS
OVERHEAD SHOT looking down upon SHERIDAN and DELENN in bed together, Delenn's arm draped across Sheridan's chest.

DELENN
Are you going to be able to sleep?

SHERIDAN
Yes. My mind has just been reviewing the
events of the past few days. So much has
happened, and all of it so fast. The poli-
tical dynamic among the Alliance members
and outside worlds is going to be much changed.
If we move quickly, we can expand the Alliance
with perhaps ten more races which had been
sitting on the fence about joining.

DELENN
We can talk about it tomorrow, on the way
back to Minbar.

Delenn kisses Sheridan.

SHERIDAN
You're right.

Sheridan lays flat from his half-sitting position and waves his hand over the small light on the nightstand and the light goes out. They curl up together and go to sleep.
CUT TO

INT. CORRIDOR
TESSA emerges from C&C, and heads down the empty corridor, then disappears down a junction. In the FOREGROUND a wiggly movement denotes the presence of an alien figure, which seems to widen and fill out, as if having been compressed into another dimension. Thin and sinister, the SLEETOK looks around and stealthily slinks down the corridor (CGI).
CROSSFADE

EXT. VORLON MOON
BESTER is walking in the field. He is looking up at the beauty of the Vorlon homeworld.

BESTER POV as he watches lightning flashes in the atmosphere.

ON BESTER as he senses something. He turns and we see a young boy, perhaps three years old emerging from the mist near the ground, with eyes that gently glow white (CGI).

BESTER
Hello. And who are you?

GUARDIAN
I am the Guardian. I will protect this
place, and our kind.

Bester looks over the child, physically human but very alien, especially the eyes. The child grows before his eyes, morphing
into a four-year-old than a five-year-old (CGI).

BESTER
I see you have your mother's eyes.

Bester takes the child by the hand and they look up to the gas-giant world above them.
